Home Again, Home Again

Someone forwarded a video to Tim. Pretty crazy that they'd post such a thing, share such a thing AND put their name on it. But I forwarded it to the police, and they were very happy.

I'm fresh back from my trip to the girls' birthdays. It was a perfect celebration. The museum where the party was being held had two amazing children's exhibits: A castle exhibit and a dragon exhibit, with huge animatronic dragons. Each display had wonderful activities, and the best thing about it is that it had something for kids of all ages. Even the teenage cousins enjoyed it. (If you want to read more about it: go here).

And this was the cake made by the mother of the princesses:

My son said, "I'm not sure it we'll ever be able to top this one." I'm just about sure he's right.

It was a long drive home. I got caught in not one but two actual traffic stoppages. One was 20 minutes, which gave me time to get my Pandora set up again. I lost access when my phone fell in the portapotty and was lost forever. Since I set up the account like 7 years ago, at work, using my work e-mail, I needed to reset it all. It went pretty quickly and I listened to two podcasts on the way home.

I'm feeling a lot more optimistic about politics lately. Just the fact that all these crazy theories are getting shot down before they even get traction is great news. Stephen Miller made the claim on MSNBC that Biden and Harris run the biggest sex trafficking operation in the world. Ari Melber deftly shut that down, calling it "some crazy thing he ripped off the internet." The man was in control of the interview and it was great.

As the Harris/Walz ticket gains momentum, if does feel as if tRUMP's losing some marbles on the way, and lord knows, the number of marbles in his bag was questionable before. He's getting more erratic. He's setting the stage already. If he doesn't win, it's because the Democrats cheated. We are watching him unravel in real time, and JD Vance is not going to save his bacon.

I haven't seen my husband yet. He's down at Grand Valley where they have begun construction on the right of way. He left roses on the kitchen table.

  1. I am geared up for a Harris/Walz win and a lotta stolen election krap trouble. Maybe some 2008 déjà vu will be the same all over again.

    1. The difference this time is that it is already evident that he's slipping backwards. It will be interesting to see how many people he draws on election night. He's also not in Washington ramping up a mob looking for a chance to put action to their misguided outrage.

  2. Glad you made it back. Wow, the cake! Crazy on the video but they're proud of their vandalism. I'm hoping we see the orange slug kicked to the curb for the last time. I'm hoping soon to never have to read another word about that thing. And what a nice husband, flowers because he missed you.

    1. We'll have to come back here on election day for a watch party as the votes are counted.

    2. Great idea, a watch party! I'm in!

  3. I saw that Stephen Miller interview you mention, and that guy is so CREEPY. He has dead eyes. Ugh! Ari Melber, on the other hand, is maybe my favorite news guy. I adore him and watch his show most days. I appreciated how he took down that Miller creep.

I,too, am feeling more hopeful about politics, but it's no time to get complacent. Too much is at stake for that.

    1. I really loved how he did not back down. Miller is a guy who makes his living out of being more outraged than anyone else, and Melber did not fall for it.

  4. That Stephen Miller interview made me sick to my stomach. He is so SLIMY

  5. Gotta love those genius punks that film their vandalism, weapons grade stupid. Hope it leads the cops right to them. Trump gets crazier by the day, the Harris/Walz crowds are driving him nuts and I'm here for it. Don't even get me started on Miller, he's a freak. 21st century Josef Mengele. As long as the MAGATS keep Vance and people like him out there it only gets worse for them. But we all must VOTE!!

    1. Isn't it the craziest thing??? I read up on Snapchat and I guess that it posts videos like this, but they are up for only a very short time. I guess he thought that none of his friends would tell his secret.

    2. "Weapons grade stupid" -- LOL!

  6. I wish Harris had picked a different running mate. I am afraid Wakz's comments about being in a war are seriously going to hurt their campaign. I also think people are tired of old white guys running things. The campaign is playing him up as a grandfather type, and that's not going to energize young voters.
I also do not like the "messaging" attempted by dressing him in camo and Carhartt. That kind of thing irritates me, like we're too stupid to look beyond the clothes? Still, I will vote blue, because I can't stomach orange.

    1. Really? I'll have to go look him up. I think that he may come off as 'grandfatherly', but people who reach out and care for others are always described with some nurturing word, and he's really pushed a very humane agenda for his state. I think that's exactly what our government needs: humanity.

I am glad that she did not pick our state's governor. Shapiro's position on Israel bothered me a great deal. We need someone bold enough to stand up and say, "Israel's violations of the Geneva Convention are wrong, and we cannot and will not finance a nation who continues to violate them." She drew a very firm distinction between Israel defending itself and it's wanton disregard for civilian lives. In the same talk, she drew a very clear line between Hamas, a terrorist group, and Palestine. She made it clear which group cannot and will not be supported.

A zionist is to Judaism what a Christian Nationalist is to Christianity. I have never been so disappointed as I was when Biden pronounced himself a Zionist at a time when you could not speak against Israel's actions without being called antisemitic. I most certainly am not.

  7. Well I didn't hear the Stephen Miller interview but this very moment have just listened to Trump and Musk cosying up together. I do hope the American voting system works.
Splendid cake it was almost a shame to cut into it.

    1. I don't listen to Elon Musk at all, but according to all accounts it was disastrous for Trump. He is aligning himself more and more with the 'fringe elements', and that is not going to help him in his endeavor. He's making some pretty poor decisions of who he sits down with.

  8. Hooray for a good trip..and a fantastic cake!! Very fitting for the day out.

I couldn't run the video but I can imagine it..and that the police are happy.

A nice welcome home gift xx

    1. Shamelessly copied from another answer: The video was captioned 'Fun times in Warren with my brotha' and showed them kicking out a basement window. According to the officer who was ever so happy to have it, it is a snapchat. I don't know what that means exactly. It's a 9 second video made in the middle of the night. At least two people are involved. They kicked in a basement window and ran away laughing their foolish butts off. You can't see anyone's face, but Cameron Nelson posted it. We live in a small town. In the words of a sage: 'Tick Tock...'

The video didn't work for me either but hope it does its job for the police.

  13. So was that your house or someone else's in that video? I hope they catch the idiots.

Although I'm not sure I will vote for Harris/Waltz, I'm somewhat excited to see them starting to gain traction and looking like they will win. The excitement is mostly at the thought of getting past the Trump era so I don't have to listen to his ignorant comments and the media who take them so literally. Trump is the equivalent of a four year old child and not someone who should be taken literally.

  14. Not our house.

I simply cannot imagine being unsure of how to vote at this point. I try to understand your point of view and I just can't see it.

  15. Well. Whoever took and posted that video is about as dumb as Trump which is to say as dumb as a bag of hammers.
Here's the thing about Trump followers- they will believe ANYTHING. Literally anything that comes out of his mouth or his campaign. It makes no difference if it's the most outrageous lie ever told- they just take it in and repeat it like gospel. So although yes, I am thrilled that Harris and Walz are doing so well, I am not entirely relieved. It's like this country has literally become part of a Trump cult.
    That cake is unbelievable.

  16. It is nuts. But i believe that we are seeing the media doing more than simply dutifully reporting his bullshit. Just the idea that our problem is that we take him literally is the problem as opposed to the problem actually being that you can't believe a fucking word that comes out of his mouth just boggles my mind.

  17. I did see that Melber/Miller segment on MSNBC! Miller is scary as 💩, as are all of the MAGAts!
The Harris/Walz ticket is climbing in the polls, so as the numbers get higher, so does my hope! The final numbers have to be so high, there can be no question as to who won and it won't be the orange slug and it's entourage!

    3. I've signed up to do 400 postcards in Wisconsin and Georgia. I'm planning a postcard writing party with my friends where we sip wine, eat appetizers, and write postcards!

    4. I signed up to do 200. I never thought to bring others in. That is a good idea Jennifer. I figured 50 cards a week works out to $28 postage. I can swing that.

I'm with you on Harris/Walz. I don't think that Walz comes across as that old (he's only 60!) but maybe that is because I just hit 74! I think he comes across as a teacher/coach/regular guy.

  22. Oh I absolutely do not trust them completely. I am, however encouraged by them. Mostly, I ancouraged by the effect this is having on trump. I am also encouraged by the the enthusiasm. But, like you, i will never forget hearing he had won the election. I did not believed it could happen.
