The flooring for the new house is done. We will go pick it up on Friday. We spent a lot more on this than we did almost anything else. If you total the appliances, it would come close, I guess. Tim fell in love with this flooring right away. I didn't not love it, so...
At some point, the Amish contractor should be calling to tell us that our sink cabinet is finished too. That pretty much will allow us to begin to finally put the house together, which will be nice.
So that's the happy for today.
We worked on drywalling the bathroom at the rehab. It wasn't a happy. It's not something that I take any amount of joy in, but it is something that needs to be done, and so, I guess that we can count the progress as a happy thing too.
I don't know a huge amount about Canadian politics so I am not qualified to offer any opinions on the subject, but still, Justin Trudeau's resignation struck us both as dignified and done with an eye towards what was best for the country. It's not something you see in our nation at all. We've got people who are priding themselves on their divisive behavior, and they don't care what it is doing to our country.
Your new flooring has some character built into it! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteI think so. The interesting think is that it is dyed, not stained. That means that the color permeates the wood. If the flooring ever gets damaged, it can be sanded out. The color will not need to be buffed out.
DeleteI agree with Linda. Like you, I am not qualified to comment on the merits of Trudeau's Prime Ministership, but he worked to keep his country as a civilised place and generally free of the ills that plague its southern neighbour. Of course he is hot as f***, but that doesn't influence me at all, no, not one bit.
ReplyDeleteDown, boy...🤣
DeleteWell, I like your new flooring and would be happy with that in my house.
ReplyDeleteHope you are getting better?
I am not at all unhappy with it. Tim loved it as soon as he saw it. I thought it was okay too.
DeleteThe flooring is most attractive - I'm sure you will love it more and more!
ReplyDeleteI am happy with it. Tim is over the moon about it.
DeleteYou must save a lot on labour doing the work yourselves Debby?
ReplyDeleteWe do, Dave. Plus, we know that the job is done to our standards. It is very hard to find good contractors.
DeletePerhaps it is a male thing, but I really like the flooring too!
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about Canadian politics either but from what I have read, he became unpopular for similar reasons to Biden, inflation and immigration. He also had a groping accusation against him. But like you, I guess I admire the guy for stepping down instead of fighting it until it is nearly inevitable. It will be interesting to see who Canadians will elect next.
I just was impressed that he put country ahead of self interest.
DeleteThe groping incident was from Aug. 2000. He was 28 years old. I haven't heard anything more recent than that.
DeleteTrudeau has always acted well and not indulged in the mudslinging that his opponents love so much.
ReplyDeleteOh, I see that I have to be anonymous today in the whack world of Blogger.
AC
Blogger is driving everyone a bit crazy these days.
DeleteWe are very happy that Justin, the actor has been forced to step down. He has been propped up by the third party leader who needed to stay in power for six years so that he would qualify for his golden pension. They are both useless and all they did was spend the country into huge debt. Justin is just a playboy conceited uneducated ass. Who only worked as an acting teacher before he ran for politics. His father was the prime minister who was just like him, a great fan of Castro and of China. He also was forced out in disgrace.
ReplyDeleteAs I said, I don't know enough about Canadian politics to address the issue, but he put country over self, and that's something you don't see happening in my nation all that often. I guess that I would disagree with you that he was "forced out in disgrace."
DeleteI love that new flooring and can't wait to see it when it's laid.
ReplyDeleteTrudeau was blamed for many things, too many things for him to continue, some of which were beyond his control, some of which were within his control. Regardless, he couldn't go on without hurting his party and I'm glad he stepped down to give the party a chance.
Well said.
DeleteI will be interested to see who replaces him.
DeleteAfter all of the work you have done on the new home, you must be so happy to be nearing the finish line there. Will you move in there when it is done and will you sell your current home? I've forgotten the plan, Debby. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes. Our current home will be put on the market.
DeleteI am a big fan of the flooring. As for Trudeau, steeping down was the right thing to do. He had lost the confidence of the leaders of his party and was quite unpopular with the opposition. The resignation of Freeland and his trip to bend a knee to the orange lunatic were the final straws.
ReplyDeleteFreeland took a stand on tRUMP. A very public stand. He said what needed to be said. I was impressed by that.
DeleteThe floor is beautiful! I was sorry to hear about Trudeau's resignation, but admittedly, I'm on the outside looking in -- maybe if I were Canadian I'd feel differently.
ReplyDeleteI guess that it is easier to watch Canada's politics at the moment than it is to watch our own.
DeleteThe other guy will be divisive because that's how he can win the election.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested to see what comes next, Red.
