Discouraged

The news is so discouraging. The word is that funds will continue to be held until the agencies affected align themselves with tRUMP policies.

Isn't that called blackmail?

I'm just weary of it all, and just sick about all the children that will be affected by these actions. And it has just begun. That's the most depressing part.

If you feel like doing a small kindness, there's this. If you can't read it, a local school is collecting post cards from all fifty states. The states that they need are Montana, North Dakota, Vermont, Michigan, Arkansas, Rhode Island and Kansas.

The Address is Tidioute Charter School

                         Ms. Runyan's 3rd Grade

                          241 Main St

                          Tidioute, PA 16351

Sorry. That's all I have today. It's hard to watch, but we all knew that it was going to happen. Keep an eye out for people who are struggling. That's all we can do. Focus on each other.

  1. My childhood grade school was on lockdown today because ICE was patrolling. That's all I could learn. These children did not vote. I am sick.

    1. Oh Joanne. I don't know what to say. I will say that I am always glad to see a comment from you. I worry about you in these strange days. We really need to keep our focus on what we can do for each other. There are days when we will surely falter. Today was one of them for me. We need to pick ourselves up as best we can and keep on keeping on.

  2. Yes it IS called blackmail! This dictator shit is getting old. The cruelty is the point. He's gonna do this with every funding item he can. Pledge allegiance to the fuhrer or you get nothing. And a lot of the people that will be hurt by this are his base. He is an evil creature, period, full stop. This freeze affected 3.8M people in Florida alone, no doubt a hell of a lot of them in his base.

    1. I just cannot believe that people chose this. I will never get over this. People voted for it. I hope it does pinch them, because that is the only thing that will shock them out of their fantasy world.

  3. Well, as much as my heart hurts for those being affected by this, one can only hope that more people turn out for the mid-terms and vote correctly. We are massively despondent about this.

    1. I am too. I just really cannot bring myself to think about it any more today, and it feels so selfish because I know that there are people out that who can't help but think about it. My only hope is that his MAGA faithful are feeling the hurt too.

  4. My friend texted me from her senior apartment subsidized by Section 8. She also receives food stamps as well as Meals on Wheels. All three programs are on the list. She is terrified. Also on the list is the HEAP program which helps twice a year with energy costs for the elderly and low income. We refer many many clients to this resource at my church charity. Private donations cannot make up the gap. It is making me sick.

    1. I thought of you. I knew that you would be seeing the fear close up. The order has been rescinded. For now. All we can do is watch and wait. Which is frustrating.

  6. Kay of Musings: I saw in the news about the worry to so many programs here as well. Sigh… we knew it would be bad. I just don’t understand those Trump supporters who think this is all OK.

Uh oh… Art volunteers for Meals on Wheels. I wonder how their clients will be impacted.

    1. The good news is that he has rescinded it.

It really seemed as if he was going for the most vulnerable of our society. The part that bothered me the most was that he wanted the programs evaluated to see how they aligned with his agenda. The implications of that is chilling.

  7. I wonder what would happen if the affected departments/states held their nerve and not accept the order. There would soon be a popular uprising, with the blame directed at one bad person.

    1. Some states are standing up to him. I see our country embroiled in legal battles until the cows come home. The lawyers will get rich. It just galls me that the people we elected to serve our country seem to be serving their own self interests.

  8. He is a bully, used to getting his own way. The tide will start to turn when people realise how much worse off they will be.

    1. That's the only thing that will change this: people need to be affected negatively, to feel the pinch before the illusions begin to shatter.

  9. It’s all so unbelievable- and this is really going to hurt the people who voted for him. I’m going to contribute to the food pantry more consistently, and volunteer to work there too. A small beginning to feel less hopeless about it all… thanks for your encouraging posts! XO, Rigmor

    1. Funny. I was ashamed of this one. I really was quite despairing yesterday. I need to get the hell over that, don't I?

  10. Another very scary part of this whole thing for me is the obvious planning that took place in preparation for the inauguration. Trump himself is not capable of getting all those ducks in a line. There are puppet masters and I say that in the most non-conspiratorial way possible.

    1. Project 2025 laid it all out. We knew it was going to happen. The Republicans disavowed it, and people believed them. Democrats were ridiculed for making it an issue. It WAS planned. It was planned from the very beginning, and you're correct. Trump is just a puppet, a figurehead for them.

  11. Of course, he is awful. It is the way he has always been. I'm glad we are speaking about it and sharing our thoughts and fears and stories. I want to encourage the people that are speaking out and standing up to him in the courts.

    1. We have to...otherwise people would begin to feel as if they are alone, the only people who think this way. We're not. I think that as the situation devolves further, this group will grow.

    1. Yesterday was not a good day. I guess we're all going to have those struggling days. We can only admit them and throw ourselves in to the arms of our tribe. When we are done, we just get ourselves together and move forward once again.

Another Day

Yesterday was my falling apart day, I guess. I was really discouraged. Today is better. I mean, what choice do we have? We keep on keeping ...
