Ukraine

Yesterday, Ms. Moon said she was proud of every federal worker who resigned rather than go against their oath to defend the constitution.

I'm proud of them too. It shows a powerful strength of character that in the end, what matters more to them is a promise. I see way too many federal workers who are putting their jobs ahead of what is best for this country, the vast majority of them being long serving Republicans. Their silence is their complicity.

I'm also proud of every blue dot that speaks up in a red county. I'm proud of the man who changed his party from being a lifelong Independent to Democrat because it was time to pick a side. I'm proud of the people who put their money where their mouth is and participated in the boycott.

I'm proud of the people who call their representatives and congressman.

I'm proud of Zelenskyy. I'm proud of Ukraine. I'm proud of the EU.

One of Vance's criticisms was concerning how Zelenskyy was dressed. (Hint: It was not in a suit and tie. He felt it showed disrespect.)

Exhibit 1:

I am sickened that we are pushing a 'diplomacy' which forces Ukraine to concede much, yet the president could not answer one question: What is Russia giving up in exchange? What has Russia promised?

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty details the EU reaction to today's debacle:

It was hard to watch today's events.

I'm sending out my emails to my senator and my representative. I hope that you will too.

  1. I've been so angry over that disgusting stunt Trump and Vance pulled today that I've worked up a sick headache. I'm so ashamed that a good man and a good leader like Zelenskyy was subjected to that kind of treatment in our country. How much more of this can we endure?

    1. To be truthful, Jennifer, I am more worried about how the much more the world can endure. There is a meeting scheduled with Putin and Saudi Arabia. I just...I can't even...

  2. Almost 80 million people thought he would be a good leader.

  3. They said that the White House immediately sent out press releases about the stunt. They had it planned and the releases were ready to go. Horrible. Just horrible.

    1. And still, still Republicans are, by and large, praising his 'diplomacy'.

  4. Republicans will never admit they were wrong about their cult leaders. They would drink poison first. I am so embarrassed and ashamed for them.

  7. Putin is bombing Ukraine into oblivion. Trump and Vance only added to the atrocity by bullying Zelenskyy today.

    1. I am sure that Putin was delighted to hear it proclaimed that Zelenskyy was not ready for peace.

  8. Thank goodness our senators and representatives already know how I feel. I’ve already written to them and they are ALREADY fighting hard. Even our governor when to DC to fight the confirmation of that idiot, RFK Jr.

We are absolutely appalled at Trump’s idiocy about Ukraine. He has no heart and appears to want to be a dictator like Putin.

  9. It was painful to watch two bullies working together, outside of US we understand whilst he is the president, he's not who Americans are. Trump throws his weight around like a spoilt children who needs to be told no, running the country like a business is never going to work.

  10. The bully in action with his sidekick was one of the most cringeworthy things I've ever seen on tv news and read about in the electric newspapers.

    1. Pretty bad. The whole "you don't have a choice" thing was an amazing diplomatic failure.

    1. Who? Our AC? I must ask for clarification.

    2. You know what? I deleted that comment. I have no idea why she thinks AC is brainwashed, other than he put back a cauliflower grown in USA. He's not brainwashed. He is a man who feels strongly about his country and will do what he can do to support it. I will not give voice to criticism of that.

  13. Yesterday’s display of bullying was horrific. Those two belong in prison, they are traitors. And one is a convicted felon. Unbelievable. Gigi

    1. I wanted, so very badly, to post something eloquent about this, but I couldn't. I just don't have the words to respond to yesterday. As Allison noted back at her blog, yesterday Trump announced the Russia is not a cyber threat. They are. They have been for years...and now suddenly, they aren't because he likes Putin. This is crazy talk.

  16. I wanted someone in that room to speak up for Zelenskyy. They all just sat there and said nothing. Disgraceful.

    1. It was, but he gave a very good response afterwards. In an interview to Fox News, he made it clear that he would not apologize, that no disrespect was intended, but it is important for both sides to know where the other stands.

  17. I keep saying- as bad as I thought it would be, could be, is nothing compared to what is actually happening. Nothing.

  20. Well done. That meeting between Trump and Zelensky was horrific and has shocked the world. Not at all diplomatic. You don't invite someone to your house and beat them on the head with a stick.

    1. I just could not get over it. There was no listening. There was no diplomacy. The refusal to listen to anything anyone else had to say is just horrifying to me.

  21. We appeased Stalin at the end of WW2 by handing over Poland, Czechoslovakia and half of Germany. It brought 80 years of relative peace and prosperity. Churchill and Roosevelt understood this. Ukraine has to do a deal to end the senseless killing. The cost to each of us is enormous through international loans. I suspect that, much as I dislike the man, Trump may be right for once.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Does the war need to end? Of course it does, but outright appeasement is not the solution to long term stability and peace. Russia cannot be allowed to be the power player here. They must make concessions as well.

tRUMP also made the grand announcement yesterday that he doesn't believe that Russia is a cyber threat. There's a whole nuther can of worms.

  23. That shitshow in the Oval yesterday was horrific. I have run out of words. Zelensky has more leadership and courage in his little finger than those two cowards will ever have, That was bad, but the removal of Russia as a cyber threat is even worse. Trump is giving them access to our systems, they can and will manipulate our elections from here on out. Yesterday was the blackest day yet.

  24. While the White House debacle was bad enough, the announcement that CISA has been banned from looking at what Russia is doing just sucked the air out of my lungs. Free and fair elections may be over because of this. There is a photo of Winston Churchill leaving the White House during WWII - and he is not wearing a suit. War time leaders don't wear suits, it's a tradition.
