ReplyDeleteThe whole 'I thought you knew...' cracked me up. It was a bad day yesterday and my god, did it ever fit! I just refused to go with him today. I told him that he needed to figure out what he wanted to do with it. I was totally prepared to return it all and buy a piece of linoleum. It is just too much to expect me to sit quietly, and he gets upset if I try to debate it. He did admit today, when he came home that it was not perfect (by his standards), but that it looked very nice. He also agreed that it wasn't anything that anybody would ever notice. Unless they run a laser line down the floor.

ReplyDeleteWhooo boy. We got on each other's nerves pretty badly yesterday. He is a machinist, and his job is precision. Some materials do NOT lend themselves to 'precision'. They just don't. The slightest variation in spacing between the tongue and the groove of the hardwood flooring was making him rip out and start over. My point was that really, who is going to notice 1/8 in variation in a space of a board running 15 feet? It honestly did. not. matter. Two hours and he was still sorting boards to get everything run perfectly using his laser level. We hadn't laid a board. He got mad. I got mad.
