Trump falsely claimed that Ukraine started the war with Russia.

There is no dispute about who started the Russian-Ukraine war. Absolutely none. We all saw it. The whole world saw it. And yet, confronted with this absolute LIE coming from the mouth of our president, the GOP mills around ineffectively.

I mean, even Mike Pence spoke up. Not sure where he found a back bone, but....there he is speaking up, bless his heart (sorry Mary), "Mr President, Ukraine did not start the war. Russia launched an unprovoked and brutal invasion, claiming hundreds of thousands of lives. The Road to Peace Must be built on truth."
The only people in power who can do anything about this are NOT doing anything about this.
Remember this: In the November 12th Newsweek quoted a Tass News interview with Nikolai Petrushev, a Russian presidential aide: "The election campaign is over. To achieve success in the election, Donald Trump relied on certain forces, to which he has corresponding obligations. As a responsible person, he will be obliged to fulfill them."
I mean, really, how much clearer does this need to be?
Turkey has fallen in line with Ukraine. I am hoping that the rest of Europe will rally around them as well. It really is out only hope.
We've spent the day working on the floors again. The livingroom is done. Just a bit of the kitchen to be done. Did I take a picture? No. I did not. I was busy calculating the boards left compared to the area of the hall way. It seems as if we will have enough. Pretty sure...
Tim is looking to buy a Generac that can power a house using natural gas, which we get for free because we have a producing gas well on our property. He found one for sale in Mercer, which is about two hours from here. He's contacted my nephew to see if he's willing to be hired to oversee the hook up of the generator.
Deer haven't found the corn yet, but the crows are right pleased. Sigh still a no-show.
It is 56 in our bedroom tonight, before we opened the door to heat it at bedtime. One more day of this cold and then it is supposed to get up into the 30s, above freezing, even! Hallelujah! I think I better get out my shorts.
Tasker got his million views. It started the morning off on the right note for me.
Let me end this on yet another music video for you.
Glad you have good house progress.
ReplyDeleteThe news? Wel done Mike Pence..better late than never
I read today that Ukraine has become a tipping point, that congress GOP have begun to speak up. I have seen some encouraging headlines in Europe. I read a good post from Robert Reich that I will post tomorrow.
DeleteEvery morning I wake up and hope for a certain obituary. What a great day that will be for the world.
ReplyDeleteYou just said what many are saying in private. Brave you. Be well.
DeleteI will admit to thinking the very same thing...and feeling pretty ashamed.
DeleteAmen, Jennifer! And no, I don't feel the least bit ashamed.
DeleteThe world would be much better without him and Musk.
Nice work on the political front. If #47's idea is to just make our eyes glaze over with despair, he is succeeding.
ReplyDeleteYou kept that quiet, a gas well on your property. With a minute's research, I can buy a new 13kv unit for AU$9,000. That is probably a high price compared to what you will be paying, so I think it would pay for itself quite quickly if you are not paying for gas. Blogs ensure I'm always a learnin'.
The gas well was the main reason Tim bought the property. Free heat, baby! The Generac Tim looked at was $2000 for a used unit. It looks perfectly good and relatively new. In the end, we both decided that since it is a new technology for us, we are better off buying new. We would have a warranty and technical support if required. The size we would need is $4000-5000 range. It would only be used for emergencies at this point, but it is good to know that we could go off grid if we need too.
DeleteI was pleased to hear our Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, has stated that Ukraine did not start the war. I guess that will put the UK on Trump's naughty step.
ReplyDeleteIt is encouraging to see Europe coalescing behind Ukraine.
DeleteThat person on the fake Time cover belongs in the loonie bin, not the white house. I hope he fires himself. Why anyone believes a LIAR is beyond belief. Just how much lower will he go if he is not stopped. The muskRAT is downright dangerous too. Two spoiled little babies running a country unchecked. I liked your video today. I am looking forward to the warmup too, then I will see if I can get my car out of the driveway again. I lost a fight with my wheelie bin putting my garbage out yesterday and wrenched my back. I go for basel cell surgery this morning so the car can wait. One of our neighbours has a generac and on the very few occasions that the power goes out, we all envy him. Hope Tim will get one. Gigi
ReplyDeleteThe incessant diarrhea of his mouth just makes me exhausted. He is so convinced that he alone can see things the right way. Good luck today. I think we are all longing for spring.
DeleteI'm lying. You know I am lying. I know that you know that I am lying. You know that I know that you know that I am lying. I shall lie regardless.
ReplyDeleteIt is just incredible to me that the lying is so glaringly obvious...and that so many people are falling for it. I was in the UK when Russia attacked, after weeks of swearing they were not going to. The whole world saw clearly who started it. Denying that after the fact makes it very clear who Trump is aligning himself with.
DeleteEvery night I vow that I will not let this craziness upset me and every day I fail. I have always despised him but I cannot understand how so many of my own family and friends can STILL defend him!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am really struggling. Tim has begun to watch the news A LOT. I just cannot. I am embarrassed at how that weighs on me.
DeleteDon’t be embarrassed. We don’t all have the same level of tolerance and there is no shame in that. I suspect that Tim needs to see the forest, and for you the trees are enough.
DeleteThat is an awfully good analogy, Joan.
DeleteFor the first time I awoke in the middle of the night from a frightening nightmare where we were in a nazi-run country with gestapo type enforcers running in the streets. I laid there out of breath and frozen in fear until I realized it was just a dream. Or was it? At my age I don't know what I can do to help stop this madness but fervently hope some of you younger people can. I am sending my checks to ACLU and watching.
ReplyDeleteI just hope it is not too late to stop this train wreck. Did you see that you can order 20 cards from the ACLU that lists our civil rights guaranteed under the law? These are important to know and to be able to hand out.
DeleteMike Pence, while he was VP, could hardly open his mouth without heaping lavish praise on his boss, which is, of course, what his boss expected. He was a yes-man. He finally found that backbone of which you speak when Trump ordered him to lie and not certify the election results. His conscience finally got the best of him. I would never vote for Pence for president, but I appreciate his standing up to Trump. I appreciate what he said about Ukraine, too.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. That was important. Credit where credit is due, an I failed to give it. His interview when he threw his hat into the ring as a presidential candidate just struck me as a man trying to garner the vote. He was trying to walk a very fine line between distancing himself from the trump years and painting himself as a viable candidate while avoiding speaking plainly about what should have been different. What he would change.. I remember his foot vibrating in its shiny shoe. I remember thinking, "he doesn't want any shit to splatter his shoes." It was inevitable that he would fail. He did pull out a backbone at the critical time, but mostly he tried his level best to legitimize his president.
DeleteAs much as I do not like Mike Pence for his uber-Christian beliefs, I have to say that during the Capitol take-over he showed strength and fortitude. And he is again.
ReplyDeleteWe have a Generac. It is truly worth its weight in gold. And that would be a lot of gold.
Does yours run on natural gas? (Or propane?) Or does it have a gasoline engine? Because if it is the first, my husband would sure be interested in a chinwag with your husband.
DeleteI've run out of awful words for our current president and the people that support him. How can anyone still defend him!?!
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking it can't get worse...and then it does. It is bad enough that he is dismantling the country...now he has turned his attention to burning down the world.
DeleteAnyone who stands up to the two mega liars had better be careful that they don't "fall out of a window"...
ReplyDeleteThat is funny...I have said that for a while.
DeleteCongress (mainly republicans) need to get a spine and support Ukraine. They all feigned over Zelenskyy when he spoke before Congress. Now they abandon Ukraine. Putin has convicted felon Trump right where he wants him, including crapping all over our European allies.
ReplyDeleteI am hopeful that if Europe comes together with one resolve, the US-Russia "partnership" will be powerless. The military takes an oath that makes it a duty to disobey unlawful orders. Attacking our allies definitely falls under that. Military leaders met back after the election to plan for that eventuality.
Delete"Nikolai Petrushev, a Russian presidential aide: "The election campaign is over. To achieve success in the election, Donald Trump relied on certain forces, to which he has corresponding obligations. As a responsible person, he will be obliged to fulfill them." Two things, one that this was said in the world and I'd never heard it before, and two, that the Russian aide thinks that trump is a responsible person (horrifying).
ReplyDeleteThank you for link to the singer. I was shocked, not shocked, that it was from eight years ago.
It IS horrifying to me that 1) the statement was made and 2) the statement was overlooked.
DeleteI cannot refer to the Orange Bastard as "president" ... I gag if I have to speak it's name!
ReplyDeleteThat singer is great! Thanks for sharing!
Been worried about you Marcia. Glad to see you back.
DeleteGood God, somebody please pinch me, that crazy orange bastard is calling himself king.
ReplyDeleteIt is just dumbfounded to me that he is personally posting these things. He is nuts.
DeleteWell, he told people elect me and you will never have to vote again, remember? No one believed him, wrote it off as his way of exaggerating. And now here he is, putting a crown on himself. I saw that this morning and almost threw up.
ReplyDeleteWe considered a generator too, but the cost would not be worth it at our age. Maybe 5-10 years ago, but $7-10,000 now just isn't cost effective. Unless things really do go to hell.
There are a lot more power outages where the new house is. He DID tell us. Isn't it ironic that the people who believe everything did not believe that?
DeleteA gas fired generator is a good thing to have. Thanks for the musical interlude.
ReplyDeleteGotta giggle at some point. Your post was a good one, Joanne.
DeleteFor the love of fat bassets, I surely hope the people in power who can do anything about this do something about this. I mean if Pence can grow a spine maybe a few more of the GOPS will soon before it is too late. Enjoy your heat wave.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe you mentioned sweet Lucy-fur in the same breath that you mentioned that odious man. 'Tis sacrilege I tell you.
DeleteAnd today we approved a man with a hit list to be our new FBI director. I am so angry and I feel so impotent.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile - fingers crossed for the flooring in the hall. And the generator!
Read Robert Reich today. I will post the link tonight when I get home from working.

DeleteThank you, ma'am!
DeleteThat Social Media Cover pretty much sums up his aspirations to not have wanted to be a President, but a King and the 1st American Dictator.
ReplyDeleteThis distortion of the reality of the Ukraine war is infuriating. Oh for the days when the American government rightly viewed Russia as a foe that deserved suspicion, rather than an autocratic role model to be indulged.
