Today

We are supposed to get our first wet snow tonight.

Houdi (aka Houdini) the formerly feral cat who adapted quite nicely to life inside until summer weather came and he made the decision that he was an inny-outy cat has now seemingly made the decision that he is once again an inny. He is stretched out in front of the space heater.

Tomorrow is Halloween. It is alsoi Weaver's  91st birthday. Stop over and wish her a happy one, if you would. After that, it is November. My gosh, time is flying.

That's it really. Tim had a nice hot shower this morning.

We went to the new build to check on things.

After that, we came home and watched a couple episodes of Antiques Road Trip. They went to Sheffield and Bakewell and Matlock. and they showed the crooked spire church, and I cannot tell you how foolishly happy it makes me feel to know that I have seen those places with my own eyes.

Tim's tired tonight and cross. A new problem has cropped up and he is frustrated. Tonight he even had a good swear, and he is generally not a cursing man.

Other than that. not a lot to report.

And that is, in and of itself, good news.

  1. Sometimes the no news days are the ones we are grateful for. I hope the new problem Tim has encountered is easily resolved. Rest easy, and stay warm.

  2. Ups and downs, but you seem to be getting there.

  3. I hope they are healing curses! It must be very frustrating having to wait for your body to heal when you are normally so active. Glad you get Bargain Hunt and can "step into" your memories of the places you visited through their trip there.

Can't blame Houdi for wanting to be indoors now it's fall and cold/damp.

  4. The devil apparently made that spire crooked in Chesterfield Debby.

  5. Yeah, the occasional cussing can let off the steam. Raised as an evangelical I didn't swear, but now I do on occasion. I am not sure that I like it though.

  6. Houdi is showing you the weather forecast is correct!!

If Tim is having a good swear..he must be getting better!!
Like a sore bit itching when it is mending

  7. Happy Halloween to you all. Nice to have a kitty by the fire. Time is changing soon (literally end of Daylight Savings Time next weekend!) and we enjoy indoor pursuits unless we like bundling up for outdoor activities!

  8. I'm sure you and Tim know that it is important to take it slow and steady. Rushing recovery will only set you back in the long run. 4 to 6 weeks of taking it easy might be hard for Tim but it will be better for him. Good luck!

  9. Oh, poor Tim! And poor you, too. Recovery from surgery is always two steps forward, one step back.

  10. Surgery and all the pre-op and post-op follow-ups never make me happy so I can understand Tim being a bit cross. Life is just better when I can get back to my normal routine.

I also don't blame your cat for choosing to stay inside from what I saw on this morning's national weather forecast.

  11. Every recovery I have had has had its ups & downs, frustrating when progress stops. Houdini is a wise furbag, innie is better in the winter. :)

  13. We went from the mid 80s on Sunday to the mid 40s yesterday. That's cold for my southern bones. It sounds like "normal" is definitely on the horizon for y'all. I'm glad.

  14. So happy to hear that it seems to be going the right way! I hope the swearing means he’s really ready to get back to normal as soon as possible.. as always, sending best wishes to you both❤️-Ricki

  15. I've still got to get up to that crooked-spire church area. I've never visited that part of England!

    1. Chesterfield. Have you ever been to Chester? Because you really should make a point of seeing that. And then you can meet up with John Gray!

  16. Poor Tim....
Gosh! We haven't seen Antiques Roadshow in such a long time. I didn't even know it was still playing.

    1. Antiques Roadshow is still a thing. We are members of PBS, so we get Passport. One of those shows you can stream through that is Antiques Road Trip, which is a lot of fun. Tim is hooked on it too. We like second guessing the experts.

  17. Oh wait. This is different. It's Antiques Road Trip. I've never heard of it.

I'm glad you're here!

Getting Things Done

Today was a banner day in a lot of ways.  We have a roof that was partially replaced on a rental. The bad side required immediate attention...
