Thanks

Thanks everyone for you encouraging words yesterday. They were much appreciated. Pixie, your words sent me off on another google search and I was able to see that you are right, that prostate cancer rarely turns into brain mets.

The neurology department is not going to answer any questions, which I really do think is shameful and tells me a lot about UPMC. Their primary focus is not patient care.

I'm feeling calmer tonight. Call it a weak moment. I don't know. I can only tell you that I'm not nearly as wobbly as I was last night.

Thanks all of you. As Weaver says frequently, we do have a wonderful little community going.

I hope that Jenny and her husband Keith) and Pixie all get over covid.

  1. So glad that you got the advice you were hoping to hear via Pixie (get well soon - this is a nasty Covid variant) and that you are feeling calmer and able to cope with things. Thank heavens we have this little community we can share our problems with.

Thank you for holding us here in your thoughts too. I am mending and though I would like to just sit and rest all day, no chance of that just yet but I'll manage. I got anti-virals for Keith last night, he's had a first dose and his breathing was much better last night. (((HUGS)))

  4. The sad thing about health care is, that sometimes we have to fight and use our "outside" voice to get things done. Or we have to call and pester for test results, or procedure times, etc. In other words, we have to strongly and persistently advocate for ourselves and our loved ones. We can no longer expect that the health institutions will handle it for us. Even at the large and famous MD Anderson, known as the best well-oiled cancer treatment machine in the WORLD - the ball gets dropped, again and again. (A dear GF has had her breast cancer treated there) Stay vigilant, and let no one put off your questions and concerns.

  5. Thank you for visiting my blog.
I've been reading some of your recent posts. You have a lot to occupy your mind at present. If it's not too presumptuous from someone you don't know, I hope your husband's operation goes well.

  6. Of course it is normal to worry and start thinking of the worst that can happen. But we are all hoping for the best and it will be good to get the surgery over with so you can move forward. It sounds like Tim is in good physical shape (so busy all of the time!) and that makes a big difference! Take care!

    1. He does keep busy. He has never been sick until about this time last year, and he's been quite sick. As he says, "I should have never retired..."

  7. It's normal to think that any thing is a metastasis. I work in cancer care and all of the staff think we have cancer at one time or another. I'm glad I could help and I actually feel human again this morning. Sending hugs.

  10. Debby, I wish you and Tim the very best outcome this week. I sympathize with your frustration in your dealings with the neurology department. I recently had a similar experience with a clinic here in Eastern Washington that could only be described as complete incompetence on their part.

  11. Wishing you both all the best - maybe our National Health Service is not so bad after all.

  12. Just to add my best wishes to you both.

Getting Things Done

Today was a banner day in a lot of ways.  We have a roof that was partially replaced on a rental. The bad side required immediate attention...
