Today.

She also said:

"so long as Zionist nationalism has existed, so have anti-Zionist Jews" and concludes that it is now the mission of such Jews to "Disentangle Zionism from Judaism".

Not so different from Christians and Christian Nationalists.

For Steve:

The lamp came with this shade, which was too small. It is a big lamp, six feet tall.

My first thought was to get a bigger shade for it, but, the more I looked at it, the more unsure I was about that.

I actually woke up in the dead of night with the idea in my head that it was not meant to have a shade.

And that I'd seen lamps exactly like this in funeral homes, at both ends of a coffin.

My mind really does continue to work things out while I sleep.

This is what I bought.

I don't know.

I think that it needs a bigger 'bowl'.

Tim likes it a lot, but noticed that we have a rather large cobweb directly above it.

Stay tuned.

It is a truly horrible picture and a good blogger would

heist her hiney out there and get a better picture, but...

Now you know.

(I mean, it's not like I'm Steve or Mary Moon.)

We worked at the house today. Mainly indoors, moving a 300 lb bathtub 3 times before we finally settled on the layout we want. We actually ended up putting the tub back where we had it to begin with. (Natch.)

We hauled a bunch of building supplies down to the basement so that we can begin the layout of the kitchen.

We cut some insulation for on the outside of the house.

Have I ever mentioned how I detest snakes?

Houdi got bitten again, and once more, he is sick. (and on a Friday night~ argh!) My daughter put an APB out on the internet, and quite amazingly, she found someone with six antibiotic pills that they'd been given for their little dog. That will get him through the weekend.

I am not going to say how happy I am about the Trump verdict.

But I am.

Finally: a song for: Northsider Dave

God rest you merry gardeners
Let nothing you dismay
For Spring is soon to come again
With lengthening of days,
The sun will warm the soil once more
And send Jack Frost away
Oh tidings of composting and joy,
Compost and Joy
Oh tidings of composting and joy.

One last giggle.

  1. I thought your idea wasn't good until I right clicked and opened the photo to much larger, and I think you are on right track. I think if you just ignore the lamp now you'll get used to it. The old shade looked very strange.
Yes, that was nice news from the US to hear today. But of course it is not over yet.

    1. No. It isn't over, but it feels like things are beginning to break down. We see very clearly who the rats are on this ship. I can't stop studying the light and thinking 'hmmmmmmmm...'

  2. Thanks for the song Debby. Oh for Spring.

  3. I like the lamp. As Andrew suggested perhaps live with it like that for a while then see how you feel about it?

    1. Well just the fact that it highlights cobwebs is a bit of a turn off. Dim lighting covers a lot of housekeeping failures.

  4. Perhaps you should outline the cone on your lamp with the snake skin? Just kidding of course. I dislike snakes too and after seeing that skin, I would be swiveling my head 360 degrees continuously for the rest of the day.

I guess the verdict didn't do much for me. I'm sure he'll find some way to weasel out of things. A guilty verdict in the voter fraud case would make me much happier but that may have been botched by the George AG. Nothing seems to be going fast enough on any front to stop him from being elected.

    1. Eep. Just no.

He is crazy. I really think he is certifiably crazy. The stuff that gushes from his mouth...

  5. I seem to have a somewhat contrary opinion about the Gaza situation.

    1. Really? That is fascinating. Sometime, if you are of a mind, I would love to hear your thoughts. I have an email address.

  6. I am incredibly shocked to see my name next to Steve's in a mention of photos! Thank you.
Debby, I can't even begin to wrap my head around what's happening in the Gaza Strip. One more example of the horrors of so-called religion. How can this even be happening?
As for Trump- I swear to god, I think the man could be elected if he were unconscious and on permanent life-support. His followers don't care. It's not even about him anymore. It's about what he represents to them and that is the most frightening thing about the whole situation.
In a completely different vein, I do believe you absolutely have a fine torchiere there. Just google "funeral parlor lamps." My brain would never have come up with that answer. I rarely go to funerals.

    1. Also, I did raise a daughter who people are a little bit scared of (just the ones that should be) and now she's raising one of her own.

  7. I can't hear new on the middle east either. My belief is that 99% of the Jewish people and 99% of the Palestinian people that are living there just want a safe place to live, food to eat, medical care and schools for their children and jobs for them. It is their government or fringe people that are carrying on these depraved acts. And I have no idea what the solution is.
I am in search of lighting, too. We have two ceiling lights in our huge living room. I have come to the conclusion that you cannot purchase a floor lamp or table lamp new that is worth anything. They are too light weight, the floor lamp I bought isn't even weighted correctly and tips. I guess what I am going to do is buy table lamps from the 40's and 50's at resale shops and hope my husband will rewire them. And then I will need more side tables so I have a place to put them. This has turned into a project. Blah, blah.

  8. The issues with Israel are complicated. I remember the hot discussions when Israel was formed in about 1950.

    1. They've gone on for many years, but according to Unicef, 40% of the 28,858 killed in Gaza are children. Doing the math for you, that is more than 11,000 children. This is not the work of a civilized nation.

  9. It's a shame governments are run by war-mongers! Or at least most seem to be; just like the recent assassination in Russia (of Alexei Navalny, who spoke out against Putin, in jail at the time) those in power are pretty indiscriminate. Having checks and balances was the ideal of democracy...but thugs have taken over a lot of politics at this time in America.

    1. That is very sad indeed. Even sadder is a man who says he would tell Putin to attack countries that hadn't paid 'their fair share' to NATO.

    1. I'm still pondering it. Not sure. It always amazes me when I wake up with something clear in my mind that was not at all clear to me when I went to bed. Tim is like that too.

  11. Religion has many horrors to answer for, Gaza is one more terrible example. As for he-who-shall-not-be-named, hurray! One more nail in his coffin, although I begin to think he may be a vampire and a silver bullet may be needed (hypothetically speaking, not a real bullet, wouldn't wish that on anyone, even him).

  12. I think the Orange One may be re-elected, much as the thought dismays me. How can anyone with a brain think he's a good candidate - or a good anything? Of course, our election this year will go without a hitch, be absolutely brilliant and we'll be dancing in the streets.

  15. I'm very happy about the verdict too. However, I also heard a supporter say Trump was only being attacked when he did nothing wrong and that it's all Biden's fault. Absolute insanity.
I agree with Amanda. Netanyahu needs to leave.

    1. I think we need to begin dismissing these rabid supporter comments. They might make good media fodder, but they do not represent the country's viewpoint taken as a whole. I heard that Boebert looks ready to crash and burn in Colorado, and that Cruz might well lose Texas. I think we are beginning to see it. The one thing that came out of tRUMP's presidency, if you can call it that, is that we have never seen more clearly the people who are not there to serve the people, but because they love and desire power. We can see who needs to go, and seems like that is beginning to happen. Hurrah! Long may it continue.

I love it! Trump is at the bottom of all the presidents! As if we didn't know that.

  16. What kind of trap can you set to trap and kill the snakes? Rat trap; maybe with some of that hot pickle? Better than Houdini getting hurt again. Washer sounds like a quick repair visit but that's stunning that unplugging it and plugging it back in fixes it! Linda in Kansas
