Today on the way back from the airport, we stopped at the ruins of a 14th century church and abbey. I touched those stones with my own hands. I wandered through an old cemetery of moss covered stones who held their secrets close, shaded by massive trees. I saw magpies and was able to name them without hesitation. I recognized names of places and things.
Thank you all for your blogs!
So much more but mostly just walking tonight with my daughter and son in law was a thousand longings coming true.
Severely jetlagged. More later.
Glad you got there! Drink water. Linda in Kansas

ReplyDeleteJetlag is the pits, especially when you've family you want to spend every minute with! Have a wonderful time, it will all go by way too fast I'm sure. x
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you are here safe and sound. Have a brilliant time when you've recovered from the jet lag!
ReplyDeleteOne of the irritations of moderation for me is that if I'm interrupted I may be in the situation I am now. I cannot recall whether I finished the comment or not.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned a 14th century church which reminded me that when I was 21 and was staying with a friend whose father was the Rector of Warboys in Cambridgeshire some American visitors came into the church. It was partially Saxon. On being asked how old it was the Rector replied that it was so old that when Columbus discovered America the church was already older than the "discovered America" was. It made me think.
It will be fun for us on how you see our country as well ;)Many days of writing your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteWelcome! X
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us know you are safe with family. I have been watching for this posts. Now just hug, love and enjoy. So much to see, never enough time. Ellie
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time. Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteI do hate jet lag, but I can feel your joy in spite of it.
ReplyDeleteA thousand longings come true... I can imagine how you feel. I have just read all your posts between this one and the latest (too many to comment on) but what. a time you seem to be having. Leicester was where I went to university; Liverpool where my brother lives... it must be such a contrast to your home. A pity the weather isn't better, but hey, it's the people you're with that matter most
