Quite A Weekend

First of all, I want to provide a link to Fresca's l'astronave. As a protester on the ground in Minneapolis, her insights are invaluable.

I am not going to post the video. The gun was in a holster. Pretti was licensed to legally carry. The videos taken from all directions show him filming with his camera while reaching down ro help a woman who had been knocked to the ground by ICE. Agents gassed them both. Pretti still held his phone. His empty hand was held in front of him. Agents shouted "He has a gun". The gun was taken by an agent in a gray ICE jacket. Only after that did the shots ring out.

According to the Star Tribune, witnesses were rounded up 'for their safety and protection'.

In Court Filings, Witnesses Describe Fatal Minneapolis Shooting

Despite this, Kristi Noem immediately claimed the agents had been rushed by Pretti brandishing a weapon. Trump immediately began referring to Pretti as 'an animal'. The MAGA faithful claim the video plainly justifies ICE actions.

It doesn't.

Alex Pretti's parents spoke.

Even the NRA spoke up, and lord knows, it has been forever since they have said anything I agreed with.

Remember that the Revolutionary War was ignited by the Boston Massacre. The British fired into a crowd of protesters.

A lot going on, so:

Weatherwise: still snowing. The hydraulic pump on the tractor chose this moment to quit. New pump ordered. $400  and a week will get that taken care of. Unfortunately, the snow was not willing to hold off. Fortunately, the man who has shit stashed everywhere had a snowplow to put on the dump truck. So we were saved from shoveling.. I made home made pizza instead.

It is still snowing. There is probably a foot on the ground.

  1. Yay for the guys with a garage or barn full of things they might need one day. Once my husband repaired a neighbor's furnace on Christmas Eve when the plumber couldn't get the part. We just happened to have a spare on a shelf.
I am sad and devastated and overwhelmed and sad and angry and livid and horrified. It has to stop. They have to be stopped.

  2. We got over 20 inches of snow so far today. I cant let the dog out as she is only about 11 inches tall. Will be stuck in the house for at least two days til snow plows and my snow shovelers come by. What another terrible tragedy in Minneapolis, a nurse peacefully protesting. And donald lies. He is terrorizing instead of doing anything he campaigned on. And Americans wonder why Canadians don’t want to go there ever again. You tried to warn voters to not vote for the piece of shit that he is. He is hated all around the world now, a good thing. Gigi

  3. I'm so angry at people who think we should keep quiet like good little sheep and let ICE terrorize others. I will keep protesting. Thank you for speaking out. And good luck digging out of the snow!

  4. All power to resisters in every way! If we all do what we can we'll get rid of this terrorist regime. Very good about the plowing. One of my neighbors wishes he was your neighbor -- his furnace went and they'll only come out if there's a gas leak in this weather. I bet he needs a part that's probably in your shed!

    1. Oh my God. Not until November. Encouragingly, this event may have galvanized the senate. There is talk that they have enough no votes to stop the passage of the budget. This would freeze funding for ICE. It would also shut down the government. We are in a bad place

  14. We got the brunt of that storm yesterday in Toronto, 22 inches of snow in about 12 hours. My snow guys came at midnight and now I can at least take dog out to the sidewalk. I shovelled a very small patch at the bottom of the back stairs, but I just couldn’t make it big enough yet as my breathing was bad. Maybe later. The snowplow has plowed in my driveway so won’t be able to get the car out yet. Maybe my neighbour will dig it out but I won’t ask him as I don’t think he should be shovelling anymore .. I hope you didn’t get hit as bad where you are. Gigi

    1. It is over a foot to be sure, but no where near as bad as your totals. We will finish digging out. Then we have to go to town to shovel out there.

  18. Hi Debby, just shy of 17” snow from Fern and then some lake effect last night here south of Akron. Horrible news cycle…brutal.storm damage and murderous armed goons in MN and now PA? 🤬. I hope our anger will only grow on our side and coalesce into a burning resolve to overturn this cruel and corrupt administration and its psychopathic and pathetic, inept figurehead. Hang tough, all. We've done it before. We CAN do it again. ✊💪 Keep safe. Kris in Ohio

  20. The horror unfolding on the streets of Minneapolis flows from the top. This is what that deranged narcissist wants, chaos so that he can say "see, we have riots and people attacking Federal agents, they're out of control, I have to invoke the Insurrection Act." He is creating this, or rather that twisted little creature Miller is doing it, Trump's along for the ride here, he's just the useful idiot that he's always been. Their lies are wearing thin though, I can feel things changing, one just hopes that the Republican reptiles come to their senses and end this, they have the power to do it if they can summon the courage.
