This was fun.
Minneapolis is doing it, aren't they?
By the way, the stories of the two mothers is being recounted unfairly. You can read about both cases. If you are MAGA, you won't though. You'll just parrot what you are fed right along with the rest of the good MAGA crowd.
Bruce wrote a song on January 27th, recorded it on the 28th. It is number 1 in 19 countries.
He is in Minneappolis right now, playing a concert with Tom Morello.
The White House is trying to downplay this as a big old nothing burger. It doesn't feel like nothing to me.

Peaceful protest is still possible. I hope that never changes.
ReplyDeleteYou and I both.
DeleteThank you for this, Debby. This reminds me so much of my college days in the 60's-70's when everyone came together to fight against what was wrong. I'm so amazed at what the Boss accomplished in just a few days. We have to stand with Minneapolis.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the writing:
"First they came for the communists, but I did not speak out because I was not a communist..."
Ending with: "Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me"
There is a tee shirt that reads 'they came for immigrant and I spoke out because I know the rest of the poem.'
DeleteOh my gosh! I just looked on Amazon and there's a whole bunch of those t-shirts! Wow! OK, I guess I'm not the first one to think of that writing.
DeleteGreat minds, etc etc...
DeleteI am beginning to feel hopeful for the first time in over a year.
ReplyDeleteI think we are seeing a turning away. Between the new Epstein stuff and the pushback growing louder and louder, it just feels like that is happening.
DeleteI just got home from attending a workshop to be a "constitutional observer", one who films arrests and reports to a legal aid group on ICE movements when they show up in town. I'm disgusted by people who think we should just quietly give in and let the fascists win.
ReplyDeleteI just saw that a town not far from us has agreed to cooperate with ICE. I am not aware of a big immigrant population there.it is very close to the NY State line. They are also close to the Seneca nation. The reservation is not subject to the laws. State, Federal, or otherwise. We will be watching closely to see what happens. We will also be watching for any community training program.
DeleteIs that true about the Nobel Prize and the good citizens of Minneapolis? That would be extraordinary. They ARE an inspiration to the rest of the country.
ReplyDeleteDoug, see my reply and link below.
DeleteIt was below zero here today but between 100-150 folks showed up in support of the people of Minneapolis.
ReplyDeleteSomeone drove by the mall and reported that the drifts were high - that the sidewalk hadn't been cleared in at least a week. So people brought shovels and by gosh that stretch was clear for the protesters!
I feel bad I couldn't attend but I am just so proud of them all, especially the new faces.
We had my nephew's birthday. We could not protest. We will be there next week. I am sure you are doing your part right from your chair!

ReplyDeleteThe nomination is real. To be honest, I don't think they'd get it...can the award be given to a town?
I'm really proud to be from Minnesota.
ReplyDeleteBonnie in Minneapolis
Bonnie, I can't tell you how proud I am of Minnesotans and Minneapolis people. A surprising number of us in Idaho (a red, red state) are standing with you.

Bonnie! I am so glad to see your comment! If you want to send me an email, I would be glad to run it as a post!

ReplyDeleteThe tide is slowly changing, there has been a magnificent response from the American people against this wicked regime. The 'No Kings' one was enormous. People power is so much stronger than the individual bully boys. Thelmax
It feels as if, finally, we are reaching a tipping point.
DeleteIt is heartwarming to see people standing together and standing up for justice
ReplyDeleteIt is.
DeleteHope springs.
ReplyDeleteI really do think if the world simply stopped attending to his bully and bluster, as Carny suggested in his speech, it would help a lot a great deal.
DeleteHats off to the protestors. They are making their point, no matter what the Administration claims.
ReplyDeleteI think the fact that they are continuing to show up day after frigid day is going to wear down the opposition. A MAGA faithful posted 'Get on the bus, or get run over.' So many people not willing to get on that bus, and I am proud of every one of us.
DeleteProtestors against predators.
ReplyDeleteMinneapolis deserves the Nobel Prize.
It is an honor for them to have their efforts applauded on a world stage. They do deserve it. You have been on my mind. That Epstein stuff is grotesque and I am sure it is triggering for you.
DeleteThe people of Minneapolis are an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLet us all be inspired by them!
DeleteI can't believe anything the DHS claims as they have lied so often and so obviously.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for the people of Minnesota who are turning the tide for all of us and setting such a great example.
Their latest assertion that a minjshattered his skull by running into a wall is being vigorously refuted by the hospital staff treating his injury.
DeleteThe Bruce Springsteen performance brought me to tears. DJ in SE, OH.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting it.
Remember all those protest songs that memorialized other events, other names. Now there is another song. These days are not going to be shoved into a dark corner and forgotten. Nor should they be.
DeleteThe tide seems to be slowly turning, how could it not with those ICE goons kidnapping and murdering people at will? They are the worst of the worst and the lies and BS that DHS spews in "defense" of their actions are wearing thin. Have to say that if the city of Minneapolis is awarded a Nobel that orange buffoon will lose all of his s**t and I'm here for it! Keep the faith!
ReplyDeleteCripes. Have you heard the latest one, that a man's skull was shattered because he ran into a wall? I am dead certain that someone will have video of a man being dog piled and getting the shit kicked out of him.
DeleteTerrible times. I do hope Minneapolis gets the Peace Prize. Won't tRump have a fit? LOL
ReplyDeleteI doubt they will, but it would be terrific if it happened.
DeleteAs an outsider (Canadian), I feel the voices are getting louder and both Congress and the Senate are starting to take real notice. The protesters and those writing and calling are making a difference. I do wonder, if the maga crowd is beginning to realize that having a conceal and carry permit no longer means that they might not be targeted by their government?
ReplyDeleteThe world is watching in horror as it plays out live on our televisions and computer screens.
From where I sit, it seems that way. Even John Fetterman voted against the bill that would have included additional funding for ICE. That was encouraging. Yes, there might be a shut down, but we can take care of each other while that battle rages. Bring it!
DeleteDHS and ICE are the worst of the worst. Canadian owners of one of the warehouses ICE wanted to rent for storing detainees and said they won't rent to ICE. Good, good for them.
ReplyDeleteI saw that. I watched a 60 minute interview with the Minneapolis Chief of Police and some smug ICe official. There is no legal justification for what they are doing. No justification for how they are doing it.
DeleteThere is a tiny light beginning to shine at the end of the tunnel. It won't be fast or easy, though.
ReplyDeleteIt surely is not over, but the pushback is relentless. I am proud of them.
