This was fun.
Minneapolis is doing it, aren't they?
By the way, the stories of the two mothers is being recounted unfairly. You can read about both cases. If you are MAGA, you won't though. You'll just parrot what you are fed right along with the rest of the good MAGA crowd.
Bruce wrote a song on January 27th, recorded it on the 28th. It is number 1 in 19 countries.
He is in Minneappolis right now, playing a concert with Tom Morello.
The White House is trying to downplay this as a big old nothing burger. It doesn't feel like nothing to me.

Peaceful protest is still possible. I hope that never changes.
ReplyDeleteYou and I both.
DeleteThank you for this, Debby. This reminds me so much of my college days in the 60's-70's when everyone came together to fight against what was wrong. I'm so amazed at what the Boss accomplished in just a few days. We have to stand with Minneapolis.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the writing:
"First they came for the communists, but I did not speak out because I was not a communist..."
Ending with: "Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me"
There is a tee shirt that reads 'they came for immigrant and I spoke out because I know the rest of the poem.'
DeleteI am beginning to feel hopeful for the first time in over a year.
ReplyDeleteI think we are seeing a turning away. Between the new Epstein stuff and the pushback growing louder and louder, it just feels like that is happening.
DeleteI just got home from attending a workshop to be a "constitutional observer", one who films arrests and reports to a legal aid group on ICE movements when they show up in town. I'm disgusted by people who think we should just quietly give in and let the fascists win.
ReplyDeleteI just saw that a town not far from us has agreed to cooperate with ICE. I am not aware of a big immigrant population there.it is very close to the NY State line. They are also close to the Seneca nation. The reservation is not subject to the laws. State, Federal, or otherwise. We will be watching closely to see what happens. We will also be watching for any community training program.
DeleteIs that true about the Nobel Prize and the good citizens of Minneapolis? That would be extraordinary. They ARE an inspiration to the rest of the country.
ReplyDeleteDoug, see my reply and link below.
DeleteIt was below zero here today but between 100-150 folks showed up in support of the people of Minneapolis.
ReplyDeleteSomeone drove by the mall and reported that the drifts were high - that the sidewalk hadn't been cleared in at least a week. So people brought shovels and by gosh that stretch was clear for the protesters!
I feel bad I couldn't attend but I am just so proud of them all, especially the new faces.
We had my nephew's birthday. We could not protest. We will be there next week. I am sure you are doing your part right from your chair!

ReplyDeleteThe nomination is real. To be honest, I don't think they'd get it...can the award be given to a town?
I'm really proud to be from Minnesota.
