Indeed

No good deed is too small to matter.

Today was so windy. We did make it to the gym. We needed milk and needed to go to town, so as long as we were there, we figured we might as well hit the gym. We carefully made our way there through snowsqualls and whiteouts and little swirling snow-nados dancing across the fields.

I will take the cold. Some areas north of the New York line are slated to get 55-70 inches of snow in this storm.

I talked with a local organization. They were enthusiastic about working with us for next year's toy give-away. They wanted to work with us as soon as they saw the write-ups in the paper. She guarantees, at a minimum, 300 toys. She also hooked me up with a contact that might enable us to add bikes to the giveaway.

I am just so amazed at how an entire community has caught this vision. It is a nice counterbalance to the shitshow unfolding around us.

  1. That seems an insane amount of snow. Facebook yesterday had some AI photos of a city in Russia with snow drifts up and above (behind) some multi-level blocks of flats. They've certainly overdone it a tad but it looked scary.

I am so glad that your Christmas scheme has really taken off and it mut be so heartening and a good distraction from all the bad news in the States.

    1. Upstate New York is no stranger to crazy snowfalls. I spent 2 winters there in Watertown. No desire to move back that way!

  2. That "Hell Freezes Over" meme is funny and so on-point. My apartment's windows are all welded shut from the zero temps. But why would I want them open anyway? It is brutal out there!

  4. That sounds like a serious storm on the way.. getting out to the gym while you could still safely do that made sense.

  5. Great news regarding the toy giveaway.
I am struggling to get my head around those estimated snowfall figures. A couple of inches here and we think we are in the Arctic!

  7. Climate patterns are shifting so no heroics in the snow. America just gets messier and messier and it has nothing to do with snow but your Christmas toy give-away at least gave joy.

    1. It is really a community project. That is the great thing for me. It is hard to have faith in people. This project lets that happen.

  11. The toy giveaway is taking on a life of its own!
Very cold here, with highs only in the teens today. And more wind. Not even any snow to make it at least look pretty!
Our country has gone mad. I am so sad to be seeing this. If I was rich I would just leave, but no one wants old people with little $$$$

  18. Your infant in charge just showed the world how fast he is slipping. He made an ass of himself rambling on and on, then he did a taco. How much longer? At least Mark Carney is not afraid of him, we have moved on. And on your toy drive, it has really been a success story, well done Debby. Gigi
