I bought new yeast today. I am happy to report that my starter bubbled and frothed and when I added the flour, magic happened just like the magic is supposed to happen.
Let there be bread~
Tim got a doe this morning. Venison for the freezer.
We had fajitas for supper, and William was just too full to eat an entire fajita. "It's too much!" he complained. Repeatedly. In an aside to his grandfather, I said, "Bet me that he'll be asking for a piece of cake within five minutes." William walked into the room from scraping the remains of his fajita in the garbage and immediately said, "Can I have a piece of cake?"
(Did I do good, AC?)
Haha!! Loved the singing angels to your bread!
ReplyDeleteYes. It was a perfect moment alright!
DeleteI'm with William. I can be absolutely full of one kind of food but have room for another kind.
ReplyDeleteMenfolk are a strange critter, Andrew.
DeleteKids! You can read them like a book!
ReplyDeleteWilliam is an easy reader book. He is quite predictable.
DeleteDoes he shoot wild hogs? There are so many here and the young ones are very tasty.
ReplyDeleteWild hogs are not an issue here, but he's seen hunts down south that he has been interested to try. He's never had the time or the money to do it.
DeleteMaui could use Tim. They are having a huge problem with Axis deer.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't want to finish his fajitas? Oh my! But yes, cake will usually do that.
I had never heard of an axis deer before, so that sent me right off on a google search. Unculled, deer can become a major problem. Fewer people are hunting, and the increasing deer population is becoming a problem here, as well.
DeleteWilliam sounds like my other half. Can't finish his wholesome, nourishing dinner but after 10 minutes sits down with a plate of cheese and biscuits.
ReplyDeleteMust be a male thing.
He's a growing boy, and he eats a lot, actually. Grazes constantly. I'm not sture what Lord P will use as an excuse, but it made me laugh when you talked about cheese and biscuits. That is one of William's go tos as well.
Deletedear Debby thank you so much for kind visit and for the insightful comment you left ! is always truly an honor and joy learn what others has to say about the topic .
ReplyDeletei loved your profile writing which defines you as honest and really sweet person i must say :)
enjoyed my visit here to your lovely blog ,it is full of life and love of life and family !
haha i used to be much like your grandson in my younger hood lol ,hardly say no to eating lol
thank you for sharing the beauty of your life with us! blessings!
Your post was very interesting to me. Like you, I take disagreement to the idea that we should never encourage others to change.
DeleteThe internet wants to know if he got his cake, and the internet hopes that he did.
ReplyDeleteThe internet can be assured that he did get his cake. One piece for dessert, and another piece for a bed time snack after his crackers and cheese.
DeleteLove your sound effects for this post. You had me chuckling!
ReplyDeleteI hope William got his piece of cake!
Before bedtime, William did get 2 pieces of cake, crackers and a good size helping of sliced cheddar cheese. For breakfast, so far, he's had one bowl of raisin bran, another bowl of apple sauce, a slice of toast with cinnamon butter. As he was headed out the door with his grandfather, he grabbed a bag of chips for a snack.
DeleteBrilliant blog title. I got it straight away after reading your post Debby.
ReplyDeleteLol. Hope your weather is settling down a bit there.
DeleteYay for the bread and yay for the deer! In response to what Ellie said, lots of folks here like to add wild hog to their deer sausage. As for the deer population, many places in the country are having problems with Chronic Wasting Disease now.
ReplyDeleteIt has yet to hit here, but it seems to creep closer ever year. Reminds me of Police's 'Synchronicity'.
DeleteI should bake bread more often. I love to eat it fresh out of the oven, especially my personal favorite, English Muffin bread. I just never seem to think about making it early enough in the day to let it rise properly.
ReplyDeleteTo me, it just makes a meal feel special, even if that meal is just left overs or a salad or a bowl of soup.
DeleteHe was saving room for dessert! Very sensible. :)
ReplyDelete*sigh* Some people's kids...
DeleteI worked in school food service and made over 1000 rolls every morning. They were so big and soft, nothing like the frozen ones most schools use nor.
ReplyDeleteI remember when I was a kid, the food was made from scratch. I honestly believe it is probably cheaper (and healthier) to return to that.
ReplyDeleteGood sound effects - after your post yesterday I bit the bullet and bought some fresher yeast myself. Look at you, an influencer!!!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I was thinking about you and Amanda today. You're one of the people who has been along since the beginning. Just got word that Scotty Blake died. He was a 'fiery' from Adelaide, and one of those folks (like yourself) who have been along for the ride from the very beginning. He had cancer from exposure to chemicals in the line of duty.
