So...I had to get a new picture for my driver's license, and so I did. My wallet was in another vehicle, and we were headed out, and so I put it in a safe place intending to put it in my wallet once it was retrieved from the other vehicle.
Yeah. I know.
It will turn up.
Today has been a frustrating day. A washer in a tenant's house needed to be replaced. It is a small house. She is a person with small decorative touches EVERYWHERE. The good news is that nothing was broken. The bad news is that the new washer doesn't fit in the space that the old washer fit into.
In the process of trying to make this happen, I got my fingers smashed but good. Interesting phrase. Did you ever stop to think about it? It was not good. I almost cried.
It sleeted and rained through out the day. Seemed to rain the very worst when I was out in it.
Tomorrow we have snow in the forecast. We also have 'plan b' for the washer.
For the first little bit, I thought it was a little washer as in plumbing. Then, I clued in. Pretty clever of me, eh? 🤓
ReplyDeleteYou are a clever 🐰 bunny.
DeleteOh, smashed fingers are so painful. It was a very worst day for you! I am glad you have a plan B for the washer. I volunteered my husband to help a friend in a very decorated house once. He could barely move without bumping something. I hope tomorrow is better!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. It is a beautifully decorated home. But it was small and I was so worried about breaking something. Eek.
ReplyDeleteThat must have so frustrating about the washing machine, but I guess you were perhaps prepared for it not fitting, hence your plan B. Do be careful with your body. As we get older we need to assess risks to ourselves before tackling things.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty good at assessing risk...where I get in trouble is when I'm working with somebody else who does something I'm not expecting him to do.
DeleteDon't you just hate days when nothing seems to go right, And then it sleets. That's the limit.
ReplyDeleteIt was a miserable cold and windy day. On top of that misery, everything that could go wrong did go wrong.
DeleteI'm sorry about your smashed fingers. Meanwhile, how many properties do you own!
ReplyDeleteEnough. We have enough! I keep telling Tim that too.
DeleteOuch, ouch. Owie! Hope the next few days are easier. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDelete...and today was at least.
DeleteAn Elvis song comes to mind Debby: "Did you ever get one of those days?" We all get those days when nothing goes right.
ReplyDeleteYes we do. Mine just happened to be yesterday.
DeleteGood for plan B...but squashed fingers...aaaargh!!
ReplyDeletePinched them between the door and the washer. Aaaaaargh is right.
DeleteGo back to bed and start again!
ReplyDeleteToo far into the day to go back to bed, but I did sleep soundly last night.
DeleteI think appliances are getting bigger. When we needed a new cooker we couldn't get a single one to fit in the space that the old one occupied and ended up cutting out some of the worktop to make room. I hope your plan B works. Squashed fingers are not nice and you don't want any more of them!
ReplyDeleteI did not expect plan b to work as smoothly as it did. I went there resigned to be frustrated. I wasn't. Too much.
DeleteHow fabulously reassuring to know I'm not the only one who has "a safe place" - so very, very safe. I think I have lots of them, if only I could remember............ hope your fingers feel better now. Elaine in UK ps - love what you're doing in your new home
ReplyDeleteOh Elaine. I try very hard to remember that I need to be organized because I'm scatterbrained. I did find my license though. *rolls eyes*. In my next life, I hope I'm smart.
DeleteHope plan B has worked its magic.
ReplyDeleteIt did. That part of the job is done and dusted.
DeleteLaying in bed this morning I was wondering about where was my birth certificate. I don’t keep it in my purse, but then I remembered that I bought a fire proof case to keep important papers in. I will check there today. I never lose anything as everything has a place, I just need to remember where that place is. When we had our stores, it seemed like the freezers and coolers used to break down in threes.. I hope your plan 2 works out and that your digits feel better soon. My birthday is tomorrow and I want to check to make sure I am not any older than I think I am. Lol. Gigi
ReplyDeleteI am glad to say that I found my new license. In a perfectly sensible place.
DeleteOh hell. Some days it's not worth it to get out of bed. If only we knew what was coming BEFORE we got out of bed. Take care of those fingers. They are important.
ReplyDeleteIf ONLY....
DeleteOh, dear, not good. I hope your poor fingers are not too badly bruised. It's a nuisance about the washer, though.
ReplyDeleteIt was. On the other side of the wall is a bedroom with a closet. She doesn't use the bedroom as a bedroom. She stores stuff in it. It is now her storage/laundry room. Once we are sure that we are not going to have problems with the washer, we're going to finish the previous washer space and turn it into a linen closet for her.
DeleteHope Plan B works and our fingers feel better. Be careful!
ReplyDelete*your fingers :)
DeleteMy fingers are bruised but not broken. But boy, did it ever hurt.
DeleteI was in a change room last weekend and I stepped on a bolt sticking out of the floor. There was a lot of swearing. I even apologized to the ladies working there but it hurt like a mf.
ReplyDeleteIt's trying to snow here too.
Yikes! Sticking out of the floor? I imagine that it would hurt like crazy.
DeleteYes, that is a funny saying. You wonder where some of them actually come from.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have a plan B. I hope your poor fingers are better.
The wind is whipping the trees back and forth here and howling against the building. It's 61 degrees but with the wind it is too chilly to even crack the patio door open. But I suppose that sounds better than rain, ice, and snow. ;)
The only reason we had plan B was because plan A did not work, and we had to figure something out.
DeleteWe had snow. Some places got two inches. We did not get that much. But it was cold. Yesterday the wind was just fierce. The sleet was blowing sideways in sheets. Crazy weather. I was cold and wet by the time that we were done...and most of our work had been done inside.
I do hope that whoever's day it was really revelled in it to balance out the d'oh moments in yours. Just remember that tomorrow is a brand new day.
ReplyDeleteIt was a brand new day, and a much better day too. Enough things went right that it sort of balanced out the frustrations.
DeleteI clenched my fingers into fists thinking about your smashed fingers. I hope an ice pack or other relief was nearby. Ouch and swearing! I’m always furious when manufacturers don’t build in aids: why are there no handles, either on a washer or on the ends of a mattress? They assume every consumer is 6-1/2’ tall. I have short arms, legs, and torso. I won’t tackle a washer, but I resent having to hire someone for ordinary household tasks.

I should say “protective fists”, not in anger, but to avoid pain.

We are a team. Unfortunately, we are not always a perfectly communicating team. He shoved it through a door frame when I was looking down to make sure we weren't pinching off the hose. My fingers were between the washer and the door jam. I couldn't even swear it hurt so bad.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Mama said there'd be days like this, as the song says.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Debby. Some days. The good thing is that they eventually end.
