Cray Cray

I cannot even wrap my head around these 'proposed changes'. Who comes up with these things? Let me tell you who. Rich people who need workers, and are completely willing to break your children to do it. End meal breaks? 14 year olds working overnights? What about school? MAGA, my ass.

Today we worked in our kitchen doing the tiling. We got the long wall done while listening to the live updates on the stock market. After a long morning, Tim said, "What was it he said yesterday? This is the Golden Age of America?"

Yeah. That's what he said while he was gleefully making his announcements.

Nuts!

To quote a sage, "Nobody can believe it!"

He has a new book out.

But enough about this sad state of affairs.

Did I ever show you this? It's right inside the front door. My brother in law made the hat rack.

I came home and repotted three plants. I'm sure they'll be fine, although they appear a bit bedraggled right this moment. Plants aren't the most grateful life forms I've ever known.

I broiled a chicken breast and sliced it up and made a grilled chicken salad for supper, which hit the spot for both of us.

We figure that we will spend a half day up at the new house tomorrow and be able to finish the tiling. We'll come home, clean up, and head out to see Lou Gramm in Erie.

Then:

Now:

Wonder if, all these years later, it still feels like the first time?

Anyways...the old fogeys are headed out...and yes. I have earplugs.

Let's end on a laugh:

Oh gees. I forgot one:

  1. Norfolk Island, an Australian territory with a population of around 2,000, had instead of the 10% tariff imposed on Australia, had 29% imposed. There is some head scratching about what is actually exported to the US from Norfolk Island.

    2. Fellow Aussie here.
Definitely some head scratching! Some of the comments are hilarious, though. As are some of the MAGA comments trying to justify such nuttiness. Australia might use Heard Island as a third-party address for exports so as to get around tariffs? It's a good couple of weeks away from the mainland by boat, and just who do the think will process all the paperwork? More penguins?
Oh, and for Americans who perhaps don't realise, we don't impose tariffs on anything from the US. We don't, however, take your beef due to biosecurity concerns. We take our disease-free status in a lot of our agriculture (and our environment more generally) very, very seriously

    3. Oh my gosh, Denise, you made me laugh out loud. Yes. It seems as if the whole thing is based on trade deficits...we buy from you, and so you must buy from us. At the same time, he's trying to enforce his DEI limits on other countries. Who would want to buy anything from us at this point? Really?

  2. Good for you, still enjoying what you can anyway. I think there's unrest among the penguins. We're lucky they can't mount air attacks on us

  3. Ya know, there are times when I feel like I'm in a theater of the absurd, between that shitshow in the Rose garden yesterday and that thing about child labor laws in Florida, my head just exploded. One wonders why that buffoon wants to tariff guano at 10%. And let me get this straight, Florida wants to exploit their children and expose them to all kinds of dangers because all the migrant folks who work in the fields or in meat processing plants have been deported or scared out of the state. Do I have that right?

  4. The tile is looking great! And I love the hat rack, too. Things are moving in a good way! Have a great time at your concert.
Luckily I was away from media today with lots of appointments. I would have been saying potty words out loud. What a fool. What a fool.

  5. Cray cray can sometimes be funny but he's a dangerous idiot controlled by many other equally dangerous people. The penguin memes did make me laugh though!

  9. I think things will be moving quickly by the lawyers against the idiot. He needs to be stopped from doing all the unlawful stuff. He has the whole world against him now including the penguins on remote islands. My son in law is going on 5 days with no power so I asked him if any Americans had come to help. As he was a power worker before he retired he said no and they never had while he was working. But he told me help has come from New Brunswick. He thinks it could be another 4 or 5 days till he has power. I see that as the stock market was crashing, donald took himself off to Florida on the taxpayers dime to play golf and probably to cheat to win a trophy. I guess that is were his priority is. Gigi

    1. Oh my gosh! I had no idea that people are still without power up there. The father of the young woman who bought our rehab travels around the country restoring power to storm damaged areas. He is headed for the south right now.

Trump gladly donates his salary to America. Of course, he rakes in many times more by dragging the Secret Service to Mar a Lago where his hotel charges a thousand dollars a night, and his restaurant bills us for feeding them.

Quite a racket he's got going.

  10. The entryway looks good and so does the new tile.
Trump is a dangerous fool. This is all stressful and mindboggling!
I am not really that familiar with Foreigner, although I know I heard Feels Like The First Time somewhere along the way. They were after my time--lol! Just goes to show you how old I am, I guess. ;)

  11. We've got our own version of Trump here in the UK, but ours in just a puppet, doing what he is told by the Oligarchs of the world - and yes, you can count Muskrat in on that. It's not a good time to be a farmer. The Govt is out to decimate them and take their land . . . https://www.facebook.com/reel/690059147031444 Hope this

    1. I read about that. Horrifying, Jennie. I'm starting to think that there are no sensible places left in the world. Maybe I'll immigrate to Heard Island, if the penguins will have me.

  12. No it doesn't. Sorry. Basically farmers are losing subsidies et al and the Govt. can compulsorily purchase their land at well below market rate - to build on - as apparently we don't need farmers or the food they produce. No - we can allow chicken washed in bleach from USA and beef full of carcinogens and hormones also from the USA.

    1. That's the thing that amazes me: He wanted Europe to take more responsibility in their own defense. They are doing that. Surprise! They are buying their weaponry from European sources. He is trying to insist that they buy American. He is not the king of the world. Who is he to tell other countries that they must buy American meat (or anything else, for that matter)? And to tell foreign companies that they must change to accomodate his DEI initiatives. My god.

  13. I was wondering how the labour gap was going to be filled. From everything I have seen about Florida it seems to be filled with retirees. 14 year olds are probably a scarce commodity and could name their own price!
Seriously though, allowing children to work through the night is a Dickensian idea. Absolutely appalling. Whoever thought that one up should hang their head in shame.

    1. Dickensian is exactly the word I could not think of. I kept thinking of all the heartbreaking pictures you saw of English children working in horrible factories for long hours during the industrial revolution. Tasker's cousin wrote a book that described the situation perfectly.

  16. What makes Canada great is it’s immigrants.. as long as they are let in at a proper rate. After all we all came from somewhere else, even donald the German- Scottish person. It was a pretty boring place when it was mostly without visible minorities.
Your tile work is looking good. Don’t let those nutsy politicians get you down. They are just trying to distract or to see how far they can go before the law stops them. The American revolution needs to get started. Time for the cray cray gang to be ousted. Gigi

  19. We were teens in the 70's so we love these rock bands! I know you will enjoy it. You are wise to take the earplugs! We forgot once and my husband ran out of the stadium with me running after him thinking he must have been having another issue that had recently send him to the hospital by ambulance. Luckily, once he got in the car he was okay. That countertop is so beautiful and the tile looks fantastic! You are both very talented people

This administration needs to be stopped now. People smarter than me (and "them") know how to do this and cannot waste a moment now.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You know, Ellen, I don't think that it has anything to do with 'smart'. I think that millions of people see that this administration needs to be stopped. We don't lack the smarts. We lack the power to effect that change. The people that do have the power, the people we elected to represent us are seemingly not doing that. I know that there are plenty of small things happening behind the scenes, but what we need to see are big symbolic things like Cory Booker, and the people who lined up to ask questions to keep that going. What we need are town halls and people coming back to DC to say, 'the people are demanding....'

We've got the smarts. We don't have the power.

Which is why Tim and I will be going to a protest.
