Just got the results of my A1C. It (once again) falls into the normal range, albeit just barely. I got teary looking at the number. If it can be controlled by diet, then I expect once this knee is corrected and I can get more exercise, I can bring it down even more.
So. That is today's happy.
Another happy? My Christmas cactus is blooming. It has never bloomed twice in a year before, so I'm not sure what triggered that.
The tiling is complete in the kitchen, and the range hood is installed. I am happy with it.
It was snowing this morning, once again. I am not happy with that.
The chicken and the horse story needs to be studied by the rump. It is so simple but he still doesn’t understand it.Gigi
ReplyDeleteA whole lot of people don't understand it. You can't force countries to buy our products. We shouldn't be trying to force them to.
DeleteMaybe the next year your neighbour doesn't need a horse, but you need two chickens. The trade deficit is reversed.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you don't treat your neighbor like garbage, he'll sell you those chickens.
DeleteMy Christmas cactus is blooming, too. I think it has decided to be an Easter cactus. There's a great deal the felon and his ridiculous voters don't understand.
ReplyDeleteI honestly have never seen that happen before. It is kind of cool!
DeleteHip Hip Hooray!!! Great news on the A1c!!!! You go girl!!!!!! And I think you are right, once you can get walking that number will drop even more.
ReplyDeleteGlad the tiling is done. Things are moving!
I am so darn thrilled with those numbers! I can't even tell you. Tile was grouted today. I think it is going to look pretty sharp. Tim was right.
DeleteYou're giving me inspiration! Same situation with the A1C. I do not want meds! I've got about another month until I get tested again.
ReplyDeleteI just had this sick feeling that it was all going to turn out to be for naught... I am just so relieved. I mean, I have not had a dessert since late December. I had some licorice, but other than that, nope. I've been sticking to a pretty strict diet. Big breakfast, no lunch, big salad for supper.
DeleteSo good to hear from you again, Debby! I have spells where nothing seems significant enough to write about.
ReplyDeleteSuch good news about the bloodwork. Your efforts are paying off !
Oh Susanna!!! (I've been dying to say that) I am so pleased. It will be interesting to see what the doctor says on Monday.
DeleteCongrats on the A1C! I need to bring mine down too. I exercise quite a bit but have a love of carbs and sweets--and I live alone and get lonely. My cat is not judgmental.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, you bring up an interesting point. I got very upset over something, and I found myself craving junk. I actually had to talk myself down, because I was really close to caving.
DeleteMy Thanksgiving cactus is in full bloom, it’s a delight. Bravo on your A1C levels.
ReplyDeleteBonnie in Minneapolis
That is so interesting, Bonnie. Apparently this is not an unusual thing. I've never seen it before though. It's a bright spot though.
DeleteGood news on your A1C!
ReplyDelete*retrieves party horn* Whoooooottt!!!!
DeleteExcellent news! You've worked this really hard, I am very happy for you.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy about it. I was dreading that blood test, because I just felt for sure that I'd tried so hard and would have nothing to show for it.
DeleteSome Christmas cactii bloom three times a year, before Christmas , right after Christmas and March. Right now mine is still blooming like crazy.
ReplyDeleteI thought maybe my Christmas cactus had decided it was more of an Easter cactus!
DeleteCongratulations on your A1C levels. Definitely deserving of celebration. Having the kitchen tiling and rangehood complete is another great accomplishment. A flowering cactus is another wonder and bonus to be thankful for.
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend continues with more positives.
I think all of us could use a few more positives this weekend!!! I'll hope that for everyone.
DeleteWoot!! You’ll definitely be able to bring it down further once you can exercise! (A quite obese friend brought her weight and A1C under control and kept them there in part by getting a dog so she’d HAVE to walk… No meds!)
ReplyDeleteI just felt like it was important to do it without meds if possible. And guess what? For me, it was possible.
DeleteWell done on the A1C, Debby! Excellent progress! Despite the snow...
ReplyDeleteChris from Boise
Thanks Chris. It is still cold here. I am tired of this weather. Roll on spring!
DeleteGood job on the A1C, your kitchen and reaching a happy place today. The chicken and horse tale should be taught, but then again, there doesn't seem to be any cure for stupid no matter the teaching. Enjoy your Christmas cactus!
ReplyDeletePeople just don't seem interested in giving the situation any thought. It's all about reacting to news instead of digesting it.
DeleteGood health news.. you've got a handle on this!
ReplyDeleteSnow?!!
Yes. Sadly...snow!
DeleteWell done on your results, we are what we eat.
ReplyDeleteI guess so! Although you would have thought I was a lot sweeter when I was having sugar in my morning coffee...
DeleteI am always in favour of diet over medication. Congratulations on your test results and the kitchen progress.
ReplyDeleteIt is just that every medication has potential side effects. I think that medication should always be a last resort, if there is another way to solve the problem.
DeleteWell, my knee has me up early. I have just finished my first coffee. It's 3:57.
ReplyDeleteOh that stinks! I am a pretty sound sleeper. If my knee wakes me up, it is because I pushed it too hard the day before. Paybacks, etc. etc.
DeleteWell done on all fronts. I like the Mediaeval Minds Page - I think a lot of us feel like that!
ReplyDeleteWhoo boy. I think you're right.
DeleteThat's great that your A1c is down from your efforts. I think that many people just aren't willing to do the work of altering their diet. I've been tracking my food, being very intentional about protein and fiber, all while staying within a caloric range that my Dr. and PT have prescribed, and not gonna lie, it is not easy at times. However, I feel so much better. And yes, when your knee is up to par, you will feel like moving more and you will get to the place you need to be!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that it is in the normal range. I'd like to see it more in the middle of that normal range, but I'll settle for this, for right now, anyways.
DeleteGreat explanation of trade deficits. Maybe you should send it to the man in the White House. He obviously doesn't get it.
ReplyDeleteYou know who I don't get Marcia? That guy in the White House.
DeleteIt's so wonderful to hear good news, Debby! Thanks for the grins!
ReplyDeleteGreat explanation of trade deficits! I agree with Marcia's comment of sending that to the White House! ;)
Maybe someone would explain it to him. He doesn't get it. He can only see things from the perspective of a very rich man.
DeleteYou are a determined and persistent woman! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteI admire that.
You know, I think that I forgot that about myself.
DeleteCongrats on your results! Love the trade deficit explanation. Too bad it is too complicated for the man in charge and his base. Happy spring! :)
ReplyDeleteI do see signs of spring. The trees are starting to leaf out.
DeleteYay for your good results!! Hope your knee surgery and recovery goes smoothly! Rigmor
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to an end date. This knee has been a problem for quite a few years now.
DeleteCongratulations on the results!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jackie. It's a big day for me.
DeleteGood for you. I'm trying to avoid sweets but then something bad happens and I crave sweets to calm myself down. I'll try again.
ReplyDeleteWhen is that knee surgery? Next month? I'm sure it can't come fast enough.
We also need more photos of your kitchen at the build. Just saying.
And that last meme made me smile. Is that a bad thing?
May 14th. I know the first couple weeks will be a struggle, but honestly, I am just looking forward to an end date.
DeleteGood for you on your results, you are doing so well. I am grinning today, my accountant told me that I am getting a refund on my income tax. Gigi
ReplyDeleteWhoo-hoo!! Everyone! Party at Gigi's!!!
Delete"Choose violence" -- LOL! I'm glad the numbers are where they need to be!
