Thanks Phillis

Phillis id'ed  my videographer. His name is Lucas Bean. His stuff on cults is very interesting. I am not able to put them on the blog, but I hope you can find him. He showed up on my facebook.

This morning, gas prices were $3.79, up 50 cents in just five days. What are you folks seeing?

We have an owl hooting tonight.

Tomorrow I have a mushroom growing class. Looking forward to that. Also looking forward to a 70 degree day.

Of course next week, we are supposed to get 3 inches of snow.

I am starting tomato seeds.

It is the little things.

  1. Our gas is 3.09 a gallon. Our tax base might be different. Gas went up maybe .19

    1. 50 cents is a big jump over five days. We were shocked to see it jump 20 cents. Someone said she drove out of town yesterday. Returned three hours later. When she returned gas prices had jumped 30 cents.

  2. Gas here was 2.89 last weekend, 3.19 when we went to the gym this morning and 3.49 when we came out the door. We drove out to the egg barn and every station we saw was up to 3.49.

  4. 70 degrees sounds good. At some outlets our prices went up 50c too, but that is per litre, 3.78 x 50c = $1.89 rise per gallon. What was suggested to be panic buying because of #47 attacking Iran, was mostly people buying where it was still being sold at the old price.

  5. unleaded was £1.32 I think, per litre up 4p from last week..but Fridays and weekends are expensive, Mondays best. So 1.32 x 4.56...a tad over £6 a gallon. A huge amount of that is tax...then ValueAdded Tax on the whole lot..tax on tax!!

  6. gz - my car's diesel and at the Asda garage in town they are now charging 156.9 per L. T'other side of the road is cheaper at £151.9.

Debby - enjoy your mushroom growing course. We have Tawny Owls hooting at night, but there's one that hoots in the daytime too. I think he lives in the fir trees opposite as it's very close.

  8. In K.C. on the Kansas side, gas went from $2.54 to $2.99. Usually there's 30 cents difference between the stations, but not today; they were all $2.99. Something's fishy. Linda in Kansas

  9. Growing mushrooms is pretty cool. And so is a foretaste of spring.
    The rest? Not so much.

  10. Phillis in Middle TN Oil prices went from 65$ a barrel on Feb. 8th to over 90$ a barrel yesterday. Ours was $2.89 yesterday, a 50 cents jump in one day. It seems we must have hidden reserves compared to the higher prices in other states.

    1. The interesting thing, Phillis? We have a refinery right here. 20 miles away, yet our gas is more expensive than outlying areas.

  11. I love hearing our tawny owls. There's something very comforting in knowing that some things don't change.

  12. Gas prices have risen by 30 cents a gallon here in Yuma. At home, in Saskatchewan, the price has jumped 20 cents a litre! It's going to be an expensive drive home.
Of course this has an impact on grocery prices and everything else that is transported by trucks, ships or aircraft as the cost of fuel skyrockets. But hey, oil producing companies and the countries will be bringing in record profits, right? Capitalism sucks!

    1. Yes. If gas prices rise, the cost of everything increases.

  13. From $2.79 a gallon on February 28 to $3.55 on March 5th here in Tucson. We will be leaving here mid April to return to Washington, one does wonder about availability/price on the trip up.

    1. I do find myself wondering just how bad things will get. An oil CEO was quoted as saying prices will rise to $5-6 a gallon. What does that even mean, really? There are places already charging nearly that now.

  14. Another blogger I read today, mentioned writing down good things that happen each day - big or little things. I need to try this to lift my spirits and help me stay more positive.

    1. It is important, Ellen. Tonight I heard peepers. I talked with my youngest daughter across the pond. Inoculated a mushroom logpenta few hours with good company. We had our first thunder storm.

  16. Gas is nearing Five Dollars in Phoenix... it's been over Four for a while now, so when I see on TV that they claim it will soon be at Four, I have to wonder, where are they reporting from?

I'm glad you're here!

Short one

I have a cold, so that has sidelined me. Hard to work when you can't breathe through your nose.  Still we have been puttering around her...
