I was shocked to see a post from a family member today. It basically stated that she always saw 47 as a great man. However now that she has watched him being attacked from all sides, she realizes that to have so many enemies fighting against him, he is undoubtedly the greatest president America has ever had.

I tried to find a video I saw. The guy was making the point that all cults die. He felt that there are 4 ways they end.
1) the death of the leader.
2) the people inside realize that the promises/prophecies the leader is trumpeting at them are not coming true.
3) divisions/infighting/power struggles within the cult. (The cult is broken from the inside.)
4) people leaving the cult, and speaking the truth about what is happening inside the cult to people outside the cult. (The cult is broken through outside means)
He stresses that this cult will end just as every cult before it has ended. I find this reassuring for no particular reason. I thought you might too.

ReplyDeleteLearned right after lunch that Noem and Lewandowski were given the boot! Sen. Markwayne Mullin is a wait-and-see situation! However, his reassignment leaves an open seat in Oklahoma that, hopefully, will be filled by a Democrat! I've already received a text asking for money!
By the same logic, the madder she gets at me the greater I am. Pretzel logic there. But what was posted was a meme. That means it was seen somewhere else and shared. That gives me hope that crazy people are starting to see themselves on the losing end of this.

Oh he sounds like a testosterone laden Neanderthal. But as his senate seat is vacated, a special election leaves open the possibility of gaining another democratic seat. While Noem has got a new title, ir comes with a lot less power and prestige.

DeleteI believe that studies show that when proof of a cult leader's lies and sins is given, they members double down. It is human to not want to admit to having been such fools. I think of the Jim Jones debacle. That ended when the cult members were so determined to follow their leader straight to hell they drank the Kool Aid and gave it to their children too. That, to me, is evidence of how easily people can be misled into completely blind obeisance. And that is what is happening now.

Self preservation of her mental picture of herself perhaps..... With regard to Markwayne, I for one do not expect a lot of improvement, perhaps less cosplay, but the man is one of the worse sycophants in the trump orbit, a true yes man with little to no relevant administrative experience. Ticks all the boxes.......and on we go.

PhillipsPObrien has done a amazing substack on how the US is going into decline. He's right. The military is now happy to follow illegal orders, such as bombing the girls' school, torpedoing the Iranian frigate (which was unarmed). It will take a century to recover from this.

ReplyDeleteI saw a FB Feed Post from a person I have always liked that stated similar delusions that your Family Member Posted... what the actual fuck is exactly my reaction too and makes me think far less of them, for a host of reasons that has nothing to do with Politics. Cults indeed always tend to end destructively but there are some major ones that have not... so I wouldn't say it totally encourages me that this one definitely will, but I would Hope so.
