Seasons change and so do I.

We finally got a good soaking rain on Tuesday.  I honestly don't think there is a better sound to fall asleep to, the shussssshhh of heavy rain on the roof.

I washed windows yesterday, inside and out. It is interesting. We picked up windows over the years as we found them on sale. The sizes match, and the colors too, but the mechanisms vary. What started out as a small job (only 11 windows to do) turned into an afternoon's work. I could not find the right nozzle for the vacuum, then I needed to rip it apart to clean the filters. Then I finangled with the different windows. Long story short: I have three more windows to clean.

But yesterday, on my ladder it was cool and breezy and the tree leaves rattled behind me. The seasons are changing.

This morning, when I got up, there was a light frost in the meadow in front of the house.

A funny thing? The deer come to the meadow in the evening. Last night, two curious cats came out to watch them feeding. A big doe was curious right back. She walked to each one of them in turn to investigate. One cat fled, but one cat stayed, and the deer ate, comfortable with the strange little creature laying just a few feet away.

I think Portland and Chicago are doing it right. Not backing down, either one of them.

Ice teargassed the police in Chicago.

ICE Feuds With Chicago Police As Tension Between Law Enforcement Grows - Newsweek https://www.newsweek.com/ice-chicago-police-tension-10834038

Oregon National Guard General states that if the National Guard is deployed in Washington State, their orders will be to protect the public from ICE.

Watching all this from the woods, one thing is clear. We owe it to the people on the frontlines to protest on October 18th.

  1. Portland, Chicago - where next?
It must have been wonderful to see the deer and the cat so close together.

  2. I have seen pictures of cats and deer together. I love that!
I realized this morning that I cannot read my usual newsletters and latest news right now. I just can't. The world will have to go on without my worry for a moment.
You've already washed your windows? Good GOD, woman.

  3. Each of us must do what we can. Inversely, if you can't, don't. No judgement here.

    1. Oh and those windows? A building lot is a pretty muddy place. Lots of splatter and hand prints and dust. Once the grass fills in, things will be better.

    2. Clean windows are my thing! Years ago, when I was much younger if I cleaned a room, the inside windows got cleaned at the same time. Then if the weather cooperated, I did the outside. I didn't often clean more than one or two rooms at a time, so over the course of a weekend or a couple of days most of the windows got done. Yes, I know -obsessive/compulsive. The older me feels good now if all l get done is dusting.

    3. These windows really did require cleaning. Building sites mean dust and mud and spray foam and handprints. They were over due.

  5. I shan't bother cleaning my windows until Spring.
    They'll only get dirty again.

    1. It is one of the certainties of life, isn't it? That which is clean will get dirty again.

  6. I thought the Oregon National Guard guy was talking about Portland, not Seattle. What a crazy and depressing world we're living in! I'm trying to find the good and sometimes I succeed. Other times things are just too heavy. My windows need cleaning--I'll wait until spring though since the rains are coming.

  11. Gosh, she washes windows, too!!!!
The grocery store is Trader Joes. I love it, probably because it is a treat to go out with friends. This morning we had pumpkin cheerios (2.99) and pumpkin brioche toast. The bread was probably $5 but we split pieces and it was a treat. For lunch (after working all day at church) I had the lobster bisque which is 4.99 I think and worth every penny. That was spoiling me. And the last spoon full had a little lobster tail. I don't grocery shop - I just look for special stuff that Aldi doesn't carry.
Congratulations and best wishes to your daughter the bride! I will probably be sharing photos from this weekend.
I am gutted to miss the No Kings. Long ago we rsvp'ed to a family wedding four states away. And there is no way to back out. I will carry a small flag to wave at any protests we pass while blowing my horn! And I believe my portable speaker will be attending in my absence.

    1. I have never been to Trader Joe's. I enjoyed tagging along on your trip though. I think Antifa will just need an excuse signed by the bride and the groom and your absence will be excused.

  12. There’s something magical about rain on the roof and the slow shift of season. I loved the image of your cats and the curious doe sharing the meadow; it’s a perfect snapshot of quiet harmony. Thank you for sharing these small joys and your perspective on the world. Stay cozy, and good luck finishing those last few windows!

  13. The weather has been wonderful here. Cool temps and sunny skies with the leaves starting to change color. My favorite season.
I'll be at the No Kings protest here in my suburb of Chicago. How crazy does it have to get before the courts and the Congress and the people say STOP! Crazy.

  14. Debby we had a full day of rain here in Pittsburgh too, on Tuesday. I found it very peaceful and spent the day cleaning out my bedroom closet with the radio on in the background, just so I can enjoy the rain. I did see all that Portland and Chicago news just this morning, what you said here, spot on. Yesterday I got an email from a former blogger and current Trump supporter who wrote even though you think I'm a fascist asshole I still hope you feel better. How do you even respond to something like that. I just said thanks.

I am reaching out to share a personal experience that changed my life and might be important for you or someone you care about. Five years ago I was diagnosed with HIV and began antiretroviral therapy. Living with the side effects, including vomiting and a white-coated tongue, was difficult, and I spent many days praying and seeking help from medical and spiritual communities.

A few months ago a friend at work, Hannah, who is also from West Africa, told me about Dr Jekawo and his herbal medicine. Because I trusted Hannah and was desperate for relief, I contacted Dr Jekawo at drjekawo@gmail.com and through his website www.drjekawo.com. He sent me a product labeled Dr Jekawo Herbal Medicine Cure For HIV/Aids and provided instructions for use.

After following his instructions, I went for testing two weeks later and the result was negative. This outcome has given me renewed hope and I wanted to share this with you because the herbal treatment reportedly addresses not only HIV/Aids but other viral conditions such as herpes, shingles, and hepatitis B and C, Cancer, Diabetes,Parkinson, Dementia, also help bring Ex Back, Dr Jekawo is a great herbal doctor with ancestral powers to cure all diseases.

If you or anyone you know is seeking alternatives or additional options, I wanted to pass along Dr Jekawo’s contact information so anyone can reach out directly and ask questions about any cure for any diseases, its use, and whether it might be appropriate. I understand this is a sensitive and complex topic.
If you would like more details about my experience, the timeline, or how I communicated with Dr Jekawo, let me know and I will share what I can.
