One kitten off to new home. She was a birthday gift to a girl who had spent quite a bit of energy and time caring for their fish, dog, and other cat. She wanted, more than anything, a kitten of her very own.
The mother came bringing her two older children, who were all bursting with excitement at being in on the secret. It was a toss up between the two blue eyed cream colored one, but she specifically wanted a girl.
They had a little collar for her and a carrier.
The mom sent pictures later. The look on that child's face was priceless. I asked her what she had named her. "Narnia," the answer came. "We read the books and all of them loved the series."
That's interesting. It does not seem like you have a lot of mothers who still read to their schoolaged kids.
She said, "we just finished 'A Series of Unfortunate Events'. We are looking for our next book. I was thinking of 'Gulliver's Travels'.
I like that. I like it a lot. It is probably a bit biased on my part to believe that little cat has gone to a good life.
I am about to reach another weight loss goal, which is exciting. The weight loss is not fast, but it is steady. I do need to buy a couple new pairs of pants.
We had to go into town to sign some papers that the bank wanted for the house transfer. Then we needed to run to the library to print off a return label and our tickets for 'A Conversation with Barack Obama'. We are both looking forward to that so much. I am sure we will be as far away from the stage as you can get, but you know what? I don't care, as long as I can hear that calm measured voice speaking in sensible full sentences.

I wish Narnia a good life. I think that a family that reads Narnia together is a positive sign for the cat.
ReplyDeleteWe prefer to sit in the back, lol. I am sure the sound system will be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAwe, so glad the kitten is going to a good home. I love that mom reads to them.
I love that Mom reads to her kids. That is truly special. So, it sounds like Narnia will go to a good, literate, home. I envy you going to see Mr. Obama, I miss him. I can't believe what I have read in the papers today. Boggles the mind.
ReplyDeleteThat kitten has won the adoption lottery.
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful when we heard that measured grown up voice all the time.
So you had a good day as some good things happened.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for your little kitty. It has certainly found a wonderful home. And I'll look forward to hearing how the Barack talk went.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing you live far away, or I would probably be convinced to take one of those kittens. They're so cute!
ReplyDeleteThat is so wonderful that she reads to her kids!! LOVE that. Yes, sounds like a really good home for Narnia.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the weight loss. :)
Both my parents read to me when I was a little kid, I will be forever grateful to them for doing so. Those three kittens are so cute it hurts me.
ReplyDeleteGood luck little Narnia....she will be much loved I am sure.
ReplyDeleteI adopted a kitten at 6 weeks from a rescue ,many years ago. I didn't ask many questions, being a first time cat parent, and I am sure that she was " feral" . She used to run up the curtains, and up my legs, and attack me for no reason. She did however live with me for about 15 years.....travelling to 3 different homes and is buried at the bottom of this garden somewhere! My Mum named her Emma, as she was a tabby with an " M" mark on her forehead. The subsequent 5 cats were much nicer......came from a home environment.
I am so envious of you being able to listen to him in person. From Scotland x
ReplyDeleteThat home sounds like a great place for both kids and kittens.
ReplyDeleteI’d like to hear Barack Obama in person. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteMargaret from New Zealand
I hope you will receive updates about Narnia.
ReplyDeleteIt will be so good to see and hear Barack Obama and to be reassured that some people can still speak in coherent sentences.
One of my granddaughters recently got a kitten, a bit older than the ones you have, and she's overjoyed. Kitten's named Darla. SHe is one smart cat too as she learned how to open the sliding door from the mud room to the kitchen in two days. Glad you can find home for yours.
ReplyDeleteI like that line very much about speaking in sensible full sentences, a rare thing these days for a politician
ReplyDeleteAw, Debby. Your last sentence brought me to tears.
ReplyDeleteAnd good on you for the weight loss. Slow is good. Steady is best.
It will be wonderful to listen to Obama speak.
ReplyDeleteSo many positive things in this post! Narnia. I love it. I remember being thrilled when I finally read Dracula a few years ago and realized that's why my SIL named his cat Mina.
ReplyDeleteNarnia is a great name, and yes, seems to bode well for the kitten's future. (Maybe it will grow up to be a lion?) I miss having a president who is...presidential.
ReplyDeleteI have a 9 month old grandson, and he has been read to since he was just a few days old (as was his mother). He adores books. It makes my Special Ed teacher's and grandma's heart so happy!
