The field is barren

It has been a lot of busyness. We had to run into town yesterday, and so Maytag was delivered to his new home. That kitten has hit the jackpot. He looks like the older cat they already have, so they were eager to get him. She sent me a video of him playing with a very posh mechanical toy that had him leaping and twisting. He also has a stuffed gorilla that he drags around. She said, 'I got out the cat toy box and he picked that out immediately.'

Cat toy box? Multiple cat trees? If there is a feline version of Disneyland, he is there. They are besotted.

Fred and Houdi were thrilled to have their suppers to themselves once again.

The house deal closed, and Mia now officially has a house for her and her little boy. She still does not seem to be be speaking to us. A disappointing end, but it is done.

I drove an Amish woman to the hospital so that she could have sister time. Her sister lives in Ohio but is quite ill and was transferred to St Vincent hospital.

It was a nice day, and I enjoyed sitting outside in the sun and reading my book while they visited inside.

Today was pumpkin butter in the little crock pot and stewed tomatoes in the five qt.

Keeping myself occupied seems to be the only way I am going to get through these strange days.

I saw someone referred to trump as 'Been-a-dick Donald.' It is good that I can still laugh.

  1. Yay for Maytag! He has definitely landed on all four paws!
    Good to help sisters.

Folks can be odd..but at least it is a property off your hands

  2. SO pleased for Maytag. His dream home.

Sorry about the house sale ending somewhat miserably. Some strange folk out there (not you two!)

I agree with you about not wanting to know what awfulness is happening in the world around us right now. Everytime I get a page up on the computer, there is dire WW3 news . . .

    1. Sometimes it is so awful that I can't bear to look. But I can try to be a good person in my corner of the world.

  4. Glad to hear Maytag lives in kitty paradise. I applaud your persistence in finding homes for all the kittens, spaying and neutering everyone, and just being a damned decent human being. It's nice to read about decency and kindness. My psyche cannot take in more of the current hatred and stupidity. I will stay focused on helping whom I can, here in my corner of the world.

I think I am the lucky one: five kittens gone.

  6. I'm glad that maytags story went so well. Not so much the house sale, but maybe if she's not speaking she's saving you some grief.
I agree, staying occupied is vital just now.

  8. Maytag good lucky, twice.
I'm sorry things with Mia didn't turn out better. Our renter left us with a house filled with garbage, after we helped her out for two years. I'm glad to be done with the whole renting thing.
I like that name for trump. Here's one for R u Fucking Kidding me Jr.

    1. I always have something to do. I canned tomato sauce, turned around and made 5 quarts of spaghetti, meatballs. Dehydrating tomato skins as we speak. I think that being able to choose my busyness makes all the difference.

  11. Yes. Staying busy. That can help.

  12. Poppy has a toy basket. I watch her paw through it to find what she fancies at that moment. Timmy walks by, sniffs at it, and walks away. In his previous life, he never learned to play. He won't even chase a string. But he is a sweet little dolt.

    1. Fred is going to be like that. Not playful. Not even all that sweet (he does not care for Tim. He will be this furry meatloaf who knows where he lives and who feeds him.

    2. Ps: I was reading something about sanpaku eyes. Fred has them.

  13. You and Tim saved Mia, I do not understand her thought processes. It's unfortunate, she's cost herself a good friend. Maytag has hit the cat jackpot, good job on finding a suitable home.

    1. I guess it was just disappointing that we won't see the happy ending, but in the end, I guess it is not important.

  14. Yay Maytag!! He definitely won the cat lottery. How about "Donnie Doll Hands", rather like that one. Or there's the excellent one from the neighbors of his Turnberry Golf Course, "The Orange Shitgibbon." I'll see myself out. :)

    1. It is always striking to me that when anyone says, 'guess what he is doing now?', everyone immediately knows who 'he' is. I am horrified that UAE invested $2B in his bitcoin operation and coincidently a deal was struck to selll them some of our most sensitive microchips...the secret stuff we use in our military technology.

  15. I have never heard of such happy results for all your kittens! Thank you for finding such special homes for them. It is heartwarming!!
I am sad about the Mia situation, but it did get the house finished and sold. It is a closed chapter.

    1. I really am pleased about that, Mary. I really struggled in some messaging with interested parties because you knew dor absolutely sure that the last thing this individual needed was a kitten. Luckily most of them simply wound up 'ghosting' me. I really felt as if the cats all wound up in good situations. In fact, we will see Maytag next week when we take his mother and Tiger Kitty in to be neutered. Maytag is being neutered too.

  16. OMG -- that medieval-style meme is so funny.

I don't understand, or have forgotten, why Mia is mad at you? You did her so many favors, didn't you?! That's how I remember it anyway.

Great news about Maytag. I'm so glad he found a good home.

  17. I think it was some last minute sketchy stuff going on with her loan person. In all the years of selling houses, we have never had the buyer's bank call us. I guess there is something known as a sweetheart deal. That is to say that sometimes a seller will sweeten the deal by selling the house, but giving a portion of that money to the seller. Since the house appraised for over twice as much as we sold it for, we figured no further deal sweetening was required. I think that is something worked out between the buyer and seller, but I think it may be unethical for the bank official to initiate. When she realized that we had done this before, I think she tried to come up with a reason for the call, which accounted for the babble. As soon as the call was done, leaving us both trying to figure out why we had received a call in the first place. Mia immediately contacted us (seriously like within minutes) asking us to up the price of the house so she could have the extra money. We said no. She was unhappy with it. After a very nasty exchange with our lawyer about us an our refusal to assist her client at all, it just sort of devolved into a 'ain't nobody speaking to nobody thing. Very disappointing.
