Not Much Today.

My Affirmation/Mantra cards were a disappointment, but then I picked up a box of breakfast cookies.

 Vòila. Affirmation.

I am putting my gardens to bed for the winter. Tomorrow I will lay down some organic fertilizer (aka well rotted manure) do a layer of mulch, plant my garlic and close everything up for the winter.

I read a post about digging up pepper plants and bringing them inside to winter. It says in the spring, you can put them outside in your garden. They will take off again in the spring and provide early peppers. So, I pulled up four of my sturdiest plants and we will see. It it does not work, I also have seeds drying in the green house. That is my experiment, and I am curious to see how it works out.

Cleaned my chicken coop out today. No eggs yet. I am trying to be patient.

No update on the other Tim.

We spent a beautiful fall day replacing a rotten support beam for a back deck on one of the rentals. William worked with us.

That's it. That's all I got.

    1. Thank you so much for this, Bex! I cannot tell you how glad I was to read this post. I am going to make a separate post with your link in it. I know people have been concerned. Side note: you are in my youngest daughter's corner of the world!

    2. So pleased to be able to pass on good news and set minds at rest! Yes, I think I recall your visiting the UK some time ago and I knew I was in your youngest daughter’s corner of the world. Leicestershire is looking very foggy today but the trees are beautiful in their Autumn splendour. I will be driving past Bradgate Park and Swithland Woods on my way to work today. Best wishes Bex

    3. We had the nicest picnic at Bradgate. Those old oaks were a wonder. Walking beneath the same trees as Jane Grey was almost beyond belief.

  2. One year I cut back/potted up 2 jalapeño plants to overwinter on a deep windowsill. Planted outNext spring they were giving me peppers by end of May. Did them for 3 years.... if grown in a greenhouse I see where they can grow into pepper 'trees'. Good luck with yours! Kris in Ohio

  3. Good luck with the peppers! Sounds like you had a purposeful day. I rode in a car for two hours to drop a granddaughter off at a mini cheer clinic run by my older granddaughter's cheer squad. I waited with my daughters at a Mexican restaurant for 3 hours, picked her up and drove two hours home. And that was a pretty nothing accomplished day.

  8. I was relieved to read River's post too.
I'm sure the breakfast biscuits were better than the stupide cards.
You have to be patient while waiting for eggs. You can't pick a bird up, squeeze it and out pops an egg.

  9. All you got is enough. I had a boss who used the looney tunes music as the ring tone for me on his phone. I wonder why.

    Love,

  10. Will chickens lay eggs when it's cold? Do they live outside all winter?

    1. I am new to this, but a lot depends on light. Our coop will have light and a heat source. During the day, they will be able to come and go as they wish.at night, they will be secured for their own safety.
