May 2nd. We woke up to snow. What the fresh hell IS this????!!
I am not a hardy character like Red who cheerfully deals with nonsense like this.
LATE EDIT: Kate too. She deals with this kind of nonsense too...and is far more complacent about it than I am.
Normal service will resume when and if normal weather resumes.

Oh dear. I would not be a happy bunny either.
ReplyDeletePerhaps an excuse to snuggle down with a hot chocolate and large slice of cake??? Just to keep warm of course.
I was a grumpy bunny alright.
DeleteIs that song from the old HeeHaw TV show? I remember that and it sure fits these days! Hope a quick thaw brings you better days!
ReplyDeleteIt is! I left my elderberries uncovered. They are not calling for a foot. I will take that as a positive.
DeleteI always think of that song:)
ReplyDeleteSnow sucks at this time of year. Ours has finally all melted, even in the shade, and the sun is shining.
Rub it in. Ruuuuub it im!
DeleteIt's just Too Much getting snow in May! It's not right.
ReplyDeleteIt is not.
DeleteA cheering post, thanks you. Way too chilly here, but at least no snow.
ReplyDeleteGlad someone was cheered...
DeleteYeah, that's crazy for May. I'd be annoyed too!
ReplyDeleteI hate to be annoyed all by myself!
DeleteI assume that this isn't normal!?
ReplyDeleteIt isn't unheard of. But it is certainly not normal.
DeletePerhaps it won't stay long. Loved the video.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't accumulate. Thank goodness for that!
DeleteSnow in may? That's just flat wrong!
ReplyDeleteAnother kindred spirit. Yay!
DeleteWe still have a lot of snow -- my front lawn has banks of it -- but it's melting so fast off the fields and in the ditches that it's washed out the south end of my road. My area of Saskatchewan isn't as far advanced in spring weather as Pixie's Alberta. But snow is never completely unexpected here in spring, unlike where you live, where it comes as a shock to your system! -Kate
ReplyDeleteOkay. You have made me feel like a big old whiny b
DeleteBaby!
You could celebrate that Willie Nelson is 93 and still going! Sings well with his two youngest sons...
ReplyDeleteI could. There is plenty to celebrate, actually. I sure would like to do it in lighter clothing though!
DeleteWhat?!? Snow in May??? That's incredible. I can't remember when we had snow in May when we lived in Chicago. I'll have to ask my daughter what the weather is like right now.
ReplyDeleteYeah. You understand my chagrin!
DeleteNo snow here, but there might as well be because it is cold, windy and miserable.
ReplyDeleteNothing accumulated. If it had, you would have Jerard me wailing clear up there!
DeleteI haven't thought about that song/skit in a coon's age.
ReplyDeleteI used to sing it to William when he would get upset. At first he laughed. Then he grew up and started getting mad. I miss my little 'will-nan'
DeleteWe're not having snow by any means but the temperature has dropped considerably. I was just at an outdoor memorial service and everyone was walking around shivering saying, "It's so cold!"
ReplyDeleteRemember- we are Floridians.
But I am not looking at cucumbers, squash and beans in my garden.
DeleteCountry songs often have so much despair about lost love, dog, guitar, or trucks! Great skit. So sorry to hear about the snow!
ReplyDeleteI can guarantee that you were not nearly as sorry to hear it as I was to see it!
DeleteDebby you act surprised--look where you live! Seriously, I am sorry... I hope when the weather warms up we get some Hee Haw Honeys instead ;^)
ReplyDeleteOh Doug! I am only an hour and change north of you. This is not unheard of. But it is sure not normal!
DeleteWe had freezing sleet this morning. Boy am I glad we didn't buy our tomato plants yet. I was tempted when we were in the 70's last week. Bah humbug May.
ReplyDeleteTim thought I should start planting last weekend. I thought I shouldn't. I am glad I didn't.
Deletefrom what I have been reading NYS and PA have had enough water ..snow is even less wanted! I remember snow at Syracuse Univ. on May 1st ( my husband's bd) 1964!
ReplyDeleteWhen I left fort drum NY (Watertown, north of Syracuse) , I bought a new car. First and only. Nissan Sentra, $4995, with no add on. I waited until midMay to get it because I was headed for Hawaii. I did not want to buy winter tires that I would not be needing. I picked up my car and the following week we got a foot of snow. That would have been 1982.
DeleteSome places here in WV had snow too. Totally not right. We were lucky that we didn't get the frost last night. A few low spots in the grass had some, but it melted by 9am.
ReplyDeleteI have been worrying about my elderberries that I just planted. They are looking okay. So far.
DeleteThat video is hilarious, Debby. I'm sorry you're having to deal with crummy weather. I'd love to have you move to Hawaii... but sigh... we do have to worry about hurricane threats.
ReplyDeleteAnd rainbows. What is the biggest hurricane you ever dealt with?
DeleteYour post title reminds me of a poem oft partially quoted by Dad - Said Hanrahan by John O'Brien - and also often said by Dad "people pay for this" (although in your case, its snow rather than mustering) - here is to the sunny days in your not too distant future.
ReplyDeleteThat phrase is a keeper.
DeleteI think the latest we have had snow was mid April a few years ago. It was a surprise and didn’t last long. In May though you should be thinking of light clothing and sandals.
ReplyDelete...and gardens with tomatoes!
