Gloom, despair and agony on me

May 2nd. We woke up to snow. What the fresh hell IS this????!!

I am not a hardy character like Red who cheerfully deals with nonsense like this.

LATE EDIT: Kate too. She deals with this kind of nonsense too...and is far more complacent about it than I am.

Normal service will resume when and if normal weather resumes.

  1. Oh dear. I would not be a happy bunny either.
Perhaps an excuse to snuggle down with a hot chocolate and large slice of cake??? Just to keep warm of course.

  2. Is that song from the old HeeHaw TV show? I remember that and it sure fits these days! Hope a quick thaw brings you better days!

    1. It is! I left my elderberries uncovered. They are not calling for a foot. I will take that as a positive.

  3. I always think of that song:)
Snow sucks at this time of year. Ours has finally all melted, even in the shade, and the sun is shining.

  5. A cheering post, thanks you. Way too chilly here, but at least no snow.

  6. Yeah, that's crazy for May. I'd be annoyed too!

  7. I assume that this isn't normal!?

    1. It isn't unheard of. But it is certainly not normal.

    1. It didn't accumulate. Thank goodness for that!

  9. Snow in may? That's just flat wrong!

  10. We still have a lot of snow -- my front lawn has banks of it -- but it's melting so fast off the fields and in the ditches that it's washed out the south end of my road. My area of Saskatchewan isn't as far advanced in spring weather as Pixie's Alberta. But snow is never completely unexpected here in spring, unlike where you live, where it comes as a shock to your system! -Kate

  11. You could celebrate that Willie Nelson is 93 and still going! Sings well with his two youngest sons...

    1. I could. There is plenty to celebrate, actually. I sure would like to do it in lighter clothing though!

  12. What?!? Snow in May??? That's incredible. I can't remember when we had snow in May when we lived in Chicago. I'll have to ask my daughter what the weather is like right now.

  13. No snow here, but there might as well be because it is cold, windy and miserable.

    1. Nothing accumulated. If it had, you would have Jerard me wailing clear up there!

    1. I used to sing it to William when he would get upset. At first he laughed. Then he grew up and started getting mad. I miss my little 'will-nan'

  15. We're not having snow by any means but the temperature has dropped considerably. I was just at an outdoor memorial service and everyone was walking around shivering saying, "It's so cold!"
    Remember- we are Floridians.

  16. Country songs often have so much despair about lost love, dog, guitar, or trucks! Great skit. So sorry to hear about the snow!

    1. I can guarantee that you were not nearly as sorry to hear it as I was to see it!

  17. Debby you act surprised--look where you live! Seriously, I am sorry... I hope when the weather warms up we get some Hee Haw Honeys instead ;^)

    1. When I left fort drum NY (Watertown, north of Syracuse) , I bought a new car. First and only. Nissan Sentra, $4995, with no add on. I waited until midMay to get it because I was headed for Hawaii. I did not want to buy winter tires that I would not be needing. I picked up my car and the following week we got a foot of snow. That would have been 1982.

  20. Some places here in WV had snow too. Totally not right. We were lucky that we didn't get the frost last night. A few low spots in the grass had some, but it melted by 9am.

  21. That video is hilarious, Debby. I'm sorry you're having to deal with crummy weather. I'd love to have you move to Hawaii... but sigh... we do have to worry about hurricane threats.

  22. Your post title reminds me of a poem oft partially quoted by Dad - Said Hanrahan by John O'Brien - and also often said by Dad "people pay for this" (although in your case, its snow rather than mustering) - here is to the sunny days in your not too distant future.

  23. I think the latest we have had snow was mid April a few years ago. It was a surprise and didn’t last long. In May though you should be thinking of light clothing and sandals.
