Magic

I woke up just before 3:30 this morning, and made my way out of bed to the bathroom.

What a beautiful sight out the window! It is -1° out there, very cold, but the full moon shown so brightly that the snow was reflecting that light back, glittering like stars fallen to the ground. The black cloudless sky held tightly to the stars that had not fallen.

Magical. No other word for it.

I made my way back to bed, but my mind was all over the place tonight. After an hour, I finally gave up and made my way to the kitchen to brew my morning cup.

I am curled up on the couch in the dark with my coffee and two biscotti. Two cat silhouettes stand gazing out the sliding glass doors studying the outside as if they can feel the magic too.

These are such awful times. When we find a bit of magic we need to savor it.

Not my photo. A local woman, Sheila Flory, took it.

  1. I'm glad you enjoyed your moment Debby. I woke up around 4am, saw all this light streaming in thru my curtains, thought something was going on outside. It was just that full moon.

  2. Ah well, if you have to be awake at that time of the night then that's a pretty good view to look out at.

  3. I woke up so many times last night for no good reason, not sure if the sky was clear or cloudy - I forgot to look for the February full moon!

  4. The moon was lovely last night. I watched it rise, with a halo around it. I often marvel that we're all seeing the same moon.

  8. I was just saying with the constant snowflakes to cover, the snow stays so pristine and pretty. And every moment of quiet peace needs savored.

  9. We should always pay attention to magic when we are in its presence.

  11. Saturday night we walked home from daughter's house. I had the flashlight on but as husband said "You don't need it. The moon is so bright." He was right.

  12. Magical indeed, and poetic writing, Debby. "The black cloudless sky held tightly to the stars that had not fallen."

  14. I too was awake at 3 this morning - not from the moon, but from the howling wind that has found a few new notes to play on a back window.

  15. Finding the magic in the mundane is good therapy, although the sight of the moon on the snow would be more than mundane for me! I woke up to the sound of rain and a gray day. I like walking in the rain, so I'll make the best of that.

  16. It's a great moon photo, rather different to the usual.

  17. I woke at 4, and am downstairs too. I'll go back up in a while but brain still turning over yesterday morning, drat it.

I bet that was so pretty. In our bathroom, I look across to the lights at the quarry - my goodness, they must have a heck of an electricity bill as those lights are on day and night.

  18. Yes. I look for the magic every day, and usually find it. It is what keeps me sane.
    The photo is beautiful. Perfect.
Hope you are having a good day today.
