Blondi Blathers tickled me yesterday with her comment, so here you are: My refrigerator. I have a lot of magnets. Some artwork.
I have a stone that my youngest granddaughter presented to me with great pride. She painted it herself.
The 'hagstone' (the rock with the hole in it) was found by my grandson.
They are kept in a crystal dish with my other interesting stones, arrowheads, a stone scraper/knife, fossils, pottery shards.
I have an orange plastic spider on the bathroom window sill where my granddaughters left it.
That's enough real for the moment.
Today I woke up at six am. I finally just got up. I peeled the rest of my apples from my niece's house and made apple sauce. Once that was on the stove, I chopped up 3 trays of onions and started dehydrating them. Once done, I whisked them through the food processor on pulse, just the tiniest bit to make dried minced onion. I am drying garlic to make garlic powder. This dehydrating thing has been such a very interesting thing to learn about.
Taking a tip from Boud, I did a bit of creating. I made a little terrarium with mosses. That made me happy too.
My sister and her husband came over. I finally won a game of scrabble. It's been a while. She brought beef tips and noodles for supper. I added a loaf of zucchini bread and apple sauce. Apple pie ala mode for dessert.
That is it really, unless you want to hear about the recycling taken in. Or scrubbing the bathroom.
There you have it...another day in the life, but it was soul satisfying.

That's the real life I love to see and hear about. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is real, alright.
DeleteHmmm... possums? I'm remembering raccoons and squirrels on the Illinois roads.
ReplyDeleteReally? you have never seen a possum? I remember how surprised I was the first time I saw a mongoose though.
DeleteI got up this morning, made breakfast, washed dishes, peeled tomatoes, diced green peppers and onions and made more salsa. Two loads of laundry washed, dried and put away, straightened up bedroom, picked up toys in the living room. No one played scrabble with me but I am thinking of starting a jigsaw puzzle tomorrow.
ReplyDelete*packs scrabble game in the bag with the tortilla chips!*
DeleteYou prepare a lot of food. It's better than store bought stuff.
ReplyDeleteIt probably seems that way, but mostly it is a matter of getting produce taken care of, which means a lot of work all at once.
DeleteIt is interesting that you dry the onions and garlic. I just hang them up in ropes in a cool place.
ReplyDeleteFor some of the recipes for creating instant food mixes, it calls for things like dried minced onion and garlic powder, which sent me off on a tangent. If you are in the process of dehydrating food why would you buy these two ingredients, when you could probably make them. So I did some reading... turns out I could and since dehydrating does double duty at this point taking the chill of the house on chilly days, there is no reason not to.
DeleteCute funnies. I googled hagstone. VERY interesting good luck item, considered rare in many areas. That's a family treasure! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of neat things in that dish but the look on my granddaughter's face when she came in to the bedroom where I was sitting my suitcases: she had that stone cupped in her little hands and explained that she had painted it just for me. It was so sweet.
DeleteWe don't have possums so there's no hope for us if we get lost!
ReplyDeleteGilbert knows where his food dish is. Just follow him!
DeleteMy dog gets me up at six most mornings to go out. After that I checked out the blogs that I follow. At 8:30 I drove over to Costco and it was open at 8:45 so I was in and out by 9:05. Came home did a few small things, emptied my freezer, it is not very big, sorted everything out, then watched youtube for hours. Late in the afternoon, I took a shower. Today being a holiday here I will do a bit of laundry, 2 small loads and have anxiety. I hate being alone and not being able to do much on my own. I can’t stand being out of control. I need to pay some bills but we have a postal strike so I don’t know how much I owe and can’t phone to find out till tomorrow. At least I have a warm not very clean house, so I should be grateful and I am. I admire you and Tim for all you accomplish. Gigi
ReplyDeleteLife has slowed down a lot, and I really appreciate that.
DeleteCongrats on the scrabble win, something which I don’t think I have ever accomplished and don’t really care. I do observe that some people take it very seriously.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read about your early=morning applesauce, I recalled that my uncle would sometimes say, “You’re full of applesauce.” I haven’t heard or even thought about that in more than a half century, but it somehow bubbled to the surface just now.
I don't really take it seriously. I only play with my sister, and she had a very long stretch of wins. She gloats in a gentle way. I pretend to be put out. It is part of the fun. Know what? People have suggested that I am full of something else altogether. I would much rather be full of applesauce!
DeleteOne of my favorite jokes is:
ReplyDeleteWhy did the chicken cross the road?
To show the armadillo it could be done.
Y'all probably don't have armadillos.
Sounds like a great day to me.
Ha! We have the same joke, but we say possum.
DeleteLove the funnies:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a satisfying day, the best kind.
It was nice.
DeleteIsn't it funny about refrigerators in our kitchens. We can scrub, straighten, and arrange our countertops to resemble a picture in House and Garden, with an attractive centerpiece on the kitchen table and all is right with the world, and then there is the refrigerator. It shows a conglomeration of magnets, coupons, pictures, recipes, and reminder notes and calendars to cover all exposed sides and looks like a waste basket dumped out onto its surface. Every now and then I rearrange, throw out and organize what is on mine and it STILL looks messy.
ReplyDeleteMy refrigerator has just begun to accumulate the clutter. But, you know what? It is happy clutter.
DeleteIt's nice to have a sister close by to get together with. I'm lucky to have my sister (and my 2 brothers) all in the same town as me.
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on your posts as I was away for the weekend in Texas with grandchildren.
In less than two weeks, I will be headed to spend time with mine. I am really looking forward to it.
DeleteI think most people love this kind of blog post. Heck even Pepys the famous diarist, reported on his dinner and his new suit, in the middle of anarchy!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say I'm glad you did the bit of art! That's important.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me happy.
DeleteI have about a 100 times that many magnets on my fridge! Love the possum meme. Works with armadillo, too.
ReplyDeleteLol. We may have found the perfect joke. With a little tweaking, it can work for everyone.
DeleteI always feel that we are lazy when I read all that you and Tim accomplish. No, I will correct that: My husband always has projects going. I am the lazy one. Unless you count reading, and reading, and reading....
ReplyDeleteI am lazy today, but I cooked a nice dinner and made another apple pie for our company tonight. I feel like I have earned my butt time.
DeleteCatching up with you! Sounds like life goes on apace at your house. I enjoyed reading about your day.
ReplyDeleteI know it is a hard time for you. I am sorry about little boy.
