My daughter came home with a housewarming gift.
I laugh every time I look at it.
It is even more hilarious when you stop to consider that quite a few of our 'neighbors' are related to us.
Today was a graduation party for my great-nephew. I got to hold my newest great niece, just two months old. She cooed and smiled and fell asleep in my arms. My sister said, "You've still got it."
I wonder if we ever truly 'lose' it?
That is a hilarious housewarming gift. I can imagine how wonderful it is to have family living close by. My kids are so very far away.
ReplyDeleteI still remember that baby smell…. Gosh that was a long time ago.
It is rough being a long distance grandma, but you do a very good job, kay!
Deletegood things happening to you.
ReplyDeleteThey sure are, Red.
DeleteMy son and his fiance moved today. I need this candle! LOL
ReplyDeleteAwwww, a new baby. Nothing better.
I found the candle and it is being delivered to them on Wednesday. Thank you! LOL
DeleteThat is hilarious. Be sure to blog their reaction!
DeleteOne thing for sure, some of us never had it in the first place.
ReplyDeleteThe label is extra funny when you have family members as neighbours.
True. But if you DO have it, it seems to be something you keep always.
DeleteMy kids just moved into a new house and now are also getting a candle. Your daughter should get some kind of kickback!
ReplyDeleteCeci
That is hilarious. I will have to tell her!
DeleteThat gift is hilarious and just because neighbors are family doesn't mean one isn't hiding his/her serial killer side 😬.
ReplyDeleteThis is very true. if I gave one to my sister, everyone could give us a suspicious side eye as well. The gift that keeps on giving!
DeleteYou obviously have the right touch with babies. When I hold them they tend to scream.
ReplyDeleteI had a screamer. When you can't hand them back, you figure out what you have to do.
DeleteNope you never lose it, it's a joy to cuddle a baby.
ReplyDeleteIt just made me smile to realize as soon as that girl was in my arms, I began swaying with her. I didn't notice initially. I may be babysitting Friday while they take the one year old to the county fair.
DeleteNo, you don't lose it...and it is good to have some family nearby xx
ReplyDeleteIt is. So nice!
DeleteNeighbours are the great unknown . . .
ReplyDeleteNot so much this time. We know them.
DeleteI don't think we lose "it" at all. I had 2 little ones climbing all over me yesterday, "can I have a hug, will you take me to see the chickens, can I sit with you" (I am pet sitting for their neighbor) Our son doesn't have any children, not sure that he ever will, and it makes me a little sad. I would have loved to be a grandma. LOVE the candle!
ReplyDeleteIn these times, children need as many people 'in their corner' as they can find. Grandmas are not always blood relatives
DeleteA little humour is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteA lot of humor is even better!
DeleteIt’s been over 25 years since I held my grandsons as babies and since neither of them want children or to even get married I guess I never will again. The kids today just want to work hard and become successful. Maybe they will change their minds as they get older. Are you ready to get chickens or will you wait till you are more settled in? Hope Houdi is happy in his new home. How are the other cats, still coming for food? Gigi
ReplyDeleteYes they are. Houdi had me worried, but that is a story for tomorrow.
DeleteA heart-warming house warming gift indeed!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you but if it were more socially acceptable I would wander around stores, looking for babies I could possibly hold. I would ask the parent's permission, of course.
Well. Mostly.
Since my niece and her husband pass by my house on a daily basis, I made sure to point out the convenience of using me to babysit. And that the price was unbeatable, being free. And that I am retired. I have a tentative date to babysit on Friday.
DeleteGreat candle! I'm not sure I've ever had it, so I'm not sure about losing it. LOL
ReplyDeleteI doubt anyone can lose it if they had it. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat candle is so funny. Love it!
Have a great Sunday. :)
Just because you are related doesn't mean they can't be serial killers, I suppose. Good thing you have a candle to warn them off.
