Cards

I had my first out-patient PT appointment today, and it went very well, so well that they are only seeing me two times a week instead of three. I met another woman there who had her replacement 3 weeks before me. She is struggling still. It was really brought home to me that I'm very, very lucky.

Freddie came inside to eat today. I just left the door open so that he could run out if he got scared, and he did, three times, but he always came back. I think he's getting comfortable.

I got two of the kittens spaying appointments this month. I did not want to be greedy and use up more than my share of appointments. This Fix'n Wagon is a huge thing, and it is something that I can see myself making regular donations to. Their plan is to return every month until the demand for neutering dies down. This, of all things, will make such a huge difference to the feral cat population.

We are getting the last two raised beds together, and hauling dirt in tomorrow. I'll get my gardens done by the weekend.

That's it. Not much to say today.

The White House seemed a little surprised that they were not given advance notice about the Ukrainian drone attack.

I'm not surprised at all.

  1. It is unbelievable what Ukraine was able to pull off. I read it was almost a year in planning. The drones were able to strike when the planes were loaded with fuel which made the destruction even worse.
It is sad that the United States was the only country not able to be trusted with the information ahead of time.

    1. Over 18 months, actually. And that's what you get when your country is led by a man who cannot be trusted.

  2. Only a fool or another MAGAt would trust anyone in our White House. Loose lips and all that......

  4. Trump has been on Truth Social, but he has not been at work yesterday or today. Pretty weird. Freddie seems to be coming around, that's good. How tall are your raised beds? Can you pull weeds standing straight?

    1. I can weed without kneeling. I haven't tried kneeling yet. I suppose I should.

  6. Well done on the knee movement and good news on the cat neutering and Freddy. All is well in your part of the world except for that man!

  10. From comedian to astute politician Zelensky is playing his cards discreetly. Blabber mouth Trump is not the person to tell secrets to. Good news on your knee and Freddie's continued winning over.

    1. Trump has shown himself to be weak. His loyalties change with the wind. I read somewhere, but cannot find it again, that tRUMP's complaint was that he didn't know that Zelenskeyy was going to blow up planes on the ground. Number 1) he knew nothing at all of the attack. Number 2) those planes were a target whether they were sitting or in the air and Number 3) it was a huge strategic victory. The Crimean Bridge explosion underscored their resolve.

  11. You are doing very well indeed, the results of preparing as well as you could beforehand and having a good attitude and support.
    Well done Freddie.

So sad and awful to see conflict dragging on..in so many parts of the world.

    1. He didn't? I didn't expect him to be elected. I thought, as a nation, we were smarter than that. However...I have been proven wrong. We will be paying a 'stupid tax' for a long time coming.

    1. It did not feel as if I were at all fit by the time May rolled around! This is really such a miraculous thing, Boud. I cannot stop marveling over it. The PT yesterday said that I was off the bell curve completely in regained function.

Such good news on your knee and Freddie - everything's going in the right direction, apart from in the big White House.

    1. That made me laugh, Janice, but it is the truth. The big claims he makes. This week he plans to have a discussion with Xi. Too bad Xi has no plans for this. He just acts as if the world caters to him and to every whim.

  15. This morning's newsletter from Heather Cox Richardson goes into a lot of detail about the genius of Ukraine's attack. It's a great read. I have so much admiration and respect for Zelensky! If only we had a leader like him.

    1. I have had so little time to keep up. I'll have to look for that article. My question is how did they truck those drones in? Are Russians beginning to aid Ukraine? I can't imagine that Ukrainian truckdrivers would be given entrance to the country. I'm so curious.

  16. So now we know who holds all the cards, it is not the orange loose lips. Wonderful progress on your knee and I think Freddy has found a new forever home. We are finally getting some warm weather, 59 degrees this morning. Gigi

  17. Such great people who run these spay/neuter operations! We have a local shelter that offers a low or no cost clinic regularly, and they are swamped each time. I bet you're ready to be done with this knee thing, and you are so close! So glad to hear that poor 'lil Freddie is trusting you.

    1. I was surprised by that. He's been so wary for weeks now. To have those defense pretty much collapse all at once was a shock. He still has a tendency to allow himself to be petted and then suddenly hiss with open mouth, but yesterday, I noticed that he looks behind him when he does that. Perhaps he is afraid of other cats.

He loves making them up for everyone else, and now the world has one for him, and he's mad about it. He's such a whiner. Oh...congratulations to your country on The Apprentice. Well done, Canada!

  20. I don't think you're just lucky with your knee, although that may be part of it, but you also did a lot of work.

I didn't think Edmonton and area had many feral cats. I was wrong, apparently we have about 70,000 feral cats which was shocking. I'm glad you were able to get two of your kittens neutered. Every cat helps.

As for trump, still a waste of skin. Slava Ukraini. And Putin khuylo!

    1. I will take another one in next month. I think also, we should begin buying a gift neuter every month. I would like to see this situation brought under control.

  21. I agree with Pixie, a lot of the outcome of a surgery like yours is driven by how hard the patient works their physical therapy post surgery, it is key. I'm still laughing when I think about the orange buffoon's comments about "not holding any cards" to Zelensky in the Oval Office while Zelensky & his generals were planning the drone strike.

  22. That made me laugh too. That Zelensky not only had the cards but he has one heck of a poker face.

  23. I really think that there is a lot in mental assiduity (is that a word - it feels like it should be) in recovery - not all, because bad stuff can still happen but rarely will a recovery look like yours unless you have a belief in what you will achieve and work for it. As said previous, I have an acquaintance whose knee was done over a month prior to yours and her go to for when it gets tough tends towards the rum end of panacea and its funny, but the going gets real tough real quick when that is your strategy.

    1. Things were bad enough for long enough, that I think that I really grabbed on to this chance. It really is, for me, nothing short of a miracle. That being said, I can't possibly be any more grateful that I only had one bad knee. I'd hate to be looking at another one in my future.

  26. I worry this is going to end badly for Ukraine, but there's no doubt the drone attacks were stunningly effective. Why should Trump expect to be notified? Ukraine owes him nothing. In fact, they probably figured he was likely to pick up the phone and warn Putin ahead of time.
