Milestone

Well, today, for myself, I hit a mile stone. For the first time since the knee replacement, I have once again hit 10,000 steps. When you stop to consider that by the time the knee replacement actually rolled around, I was finding it difficult to hit 4000 steps. It had gotten that bad. But...today, 10,000 steps, and there is no pain.

I just thought that was something lost and gone forever. It will always seem miraculous to me.

Yesterday:

Actual crowd size may vary.

    1. Seems easy enough to me. If you can watch unkindness and your only response is, "That doesn't affect me, and so I don't care", well...I am afraid that you are not kind. You are self centered. It is not the same.

  2. That's thrilling knee news. Wonderful to hear. And the reports of yesterday are thrilling too.

  3. Yay on your Knee Recovery!!! And I was so happy to hear that the No Kings Protests Nationwide had such a good turnout with Millions in attendance and his Ego Parade was an expensive flop.

    1. The empty bleachers were quite telling. I heard ABC news trying to explain it as the weather kept people away. Yet millions of people stood in the same weather to protest him.

  4. Amazing! Despite the threat of zip ties, and rubber bullets and tear gas...millions turned out to protest all over the 50 states and even in other countries. ;) Made my day!
    Congrats on 10, 000 steps!! :)

    1. That was quite moving to me, to see support from other nations.

  5. It's been a while since I've made 10,000 steps, so you have done so well. The day in the US was very successful, except for one person who with minimal numbers, had his parade rained on.

  6. That new knee is a real new lease on life! I can just imagine your joy in pain free walking! 10,000!!! What an accomplishment! FABULOUS.
Very interesting the mixed new reports of the marches. All I know is what I see. In my red county we increased from our usual 300 participants in past months to over 1,000 people. So inspiring!

    1. I heard one news say 200,000 people were at the parade. I can tell you that I have been on the mall for July 4th celebrations, and that was not 200,000 people. It's simply not. It amazes me that the news is rallying around the despot, and spoon feeding his propaganda to the masses.

    1. Well...it rather seems as if you're a pretty resilient fellow yourself. Are you able to sleep more at night?

  8. 10K steps! Well done, congrats on your outcome! 250K "patriots?" Nah, the look on the felon's face and the crowd pictures on Twitter say otherwise.........

    1. There was one woman in the VIP section. She was dressed in a red suit, and oh my gosh. She looked most unhappy to be there. Angry even! She's my hero. I'd like to know more about her.

  9. Well done. I'm glad your knee is healing so well and so quickly. It must be a relief to feel like your old self again.
The estimates seem to be wildly inflated about people watch the trump parada, not much of a surprise there.
That last meme, lovely, thank you.

  10. Happy for your 10,000 steps today. Hope you're not too sore tomorrow.
I'm also happy because the assassin in Minnesota has been caught and charged.

    1. I woke up in the middle of the night and read this. I got up immediately to see the news reports. Good news. Shocking that tRUMP tried to use the tragedy as a chance to lynch Tim Walz.

    1. I've heard some horror stories myself, but it has been wonderful for me. I never thought I'd have this kind of mobility again. I cannot stop marveling over it.

  12. Brilliant news with your knee, it shows we should never give up. As for the protest, again never give up.

    1. I can't hardly believe it myself. Our neighbor tells that his mother had knee replacement last fall and she's still severely compromised. I don't know her situation, not specifics, but how awful to have gone through all of that, and still have a mobility issue.

    1. I do not aspire to be in the olympics. I'm not that kind of woman. But I do aspire to be able to walk as far as I want. And that I can do. With every milestone, I find myself wondering what I can do beyond that...and voila! New milestone.

  15. Congratulations! You have made an amazing recovery.
As for 250,000, I can only assume that they were all hiding around the corner in the photos I have seen.

    2. It will be 8 years in September and I danced at a wedding in the December. Not that I’m suggesting you dance too soon as replacement knees are a bit trickier to get over, take your time you are doing great.

  17. Congratulations! You're a walking advertisement for knee replacement surgery.
The Trump fiasco was a damp squib. Good to see that the protest marches across the States were well-attended and peaceful.

  18. Did you see how the troops were all out of step or is that fake news. I don’t know what is true anymore but I could not see any 250,000 at his parade even counting the troops. It was not televised here. And now the fellon is up here for the G7 threatening everybody. Most Canadians don’t think he should be allowed in because he has a record. Gigi

    1. Gigi, it is not fake news. All the bobbing heads! But...the thing is that our military is not designed for show. As a former soldier, I can tell you that it is very hard to keep in step without music, or at the least, someone calling cadence.

    1. Just to be clear, my 10000 steps is over the course of a day. I walked to the edge of town, 3500 steps, went to a festival for a couple hours, one antique store, Walmart, and a stop to price interior doors. I had Tim drop me off at the other edge of town and walked back home. Quite different from your walking, I would bet!
