Going, going, gone

I am heading out tomorrow morning to my son's house for the weekend, me and Flat Stanley. He went to Drake's Well, if you're curious. He has a nice story with pictures and brochures.

My youngest granddaughter called this afternoon to tell me that she helped her mama get my room ready. She did the dusting all by herself and it was perfect. She also wanted me to know that she could hardly wait. I told her I could hardly wait either. We talked about what fun we would have.

I won't be protesting on Saturday, although Tim will. I have a dance competition to attend. I probably won't be online much either, but I will catch you on the flipside, with plans to come back either Monday or Tuesday, depending on whether a plot I am plotting works out.

I told my sister that i had made a chicken pot pie for supper last night. The left overs will make a meal for Tim. I made two quiches today and for good measure made a meatloaf, which he can have with mashed potatoes and gravy one night and use for sandwiches. For good measure, I bought him 5 frozen dinners.

My sister laughed. 'You know he will head for DQ' at the same time I said, 'he will probably just go to Dairy Queen.'

SNAP!

Have a a good weekend everyone and remember this helpful tip of the day.

I haven't listened to the news at all. But boy, they are playing some great music on the classic rock station. Neil Young, U2, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith.

They did not play this though.

It is an old one. You might even call it a classic.

  1. At least Tim will feed himself, however!
    Enjoy your trip.

  3. It seems like you over prepared for Tim in your absence. Do have a great time with your son and your grandchildren. You are a fun grandparent. If I had grandchildren, I would the grumpy and stern old grandpa.

  5. Tim is like my husband. He tells me he can cook and then buys takeout.
    Have a wonderful visit!

  7. My oldest grandchildren work at a Dairy Queen up in Wisconsin. It's fancier than our local Dairy Queen as it serves food and not just the frozen treats. Have a wonderful visit!

  8. Enjoy the family time with your granddaughters, son and daughter-in-law. I have given up catering to V when I go away.

  9. That transition from a chaotic, full house to a quiet one is such a trip. 'Going, Going, Gone' is the perfect title—it really does happen in stages until suddenly the last box is out the door. Throwing yourself into home projects is the best way to navigate that silence! I just did some 'shed therapy' myself, so I totally get the satisfaction of clearing out the old to make room for the new. Enjoy that new craft room!

  10. Okay. I pick Ronald Dump.
What a great time you will have!! I am excited for you!!
When I first went away on a trip without the hubby, I left a freezer full of meals. He went to Burger King every night. The next year - same thing. I no longer plan for him. He thinks he is a twelve year old with a debit card.

  11. I do not get sustenance like that left for me. 🥸

But DQ would not be on my list should I require outside intervention. Actually, I am not sure what would be on my list since I did not do any takeout etc on my last solo mission. But you are a good lady, and I hope you have. good weekend.

  12. I had a friend who went off for a month's work and left her husband enough frozen meals she'd made for him from scratch to last the entire time and when she got home, he had not touched a one.
    Have a great, great time!

  14. We took Flat Stanley everywhere for my granddaughter when she was in grade school. Do you know they don't allow Flat Stanley on the Acropolis. Ah well... I loved that video. That was so much fun. Our country is truly doing downhill right now. I can't believe Trump is now attacking the Pope. Wow!
