Back

I am back from my little trip. It was a wonderful little getaway. There was a picnic in the park. A dance competition, followed by a dad grilled meal on the back patio. Dad and Mom got a date night. The girls and I used 'little eyes' to see the teeny tiniest wild flowers that are all around us. We planted terrariums in little 5 inch tall jars I brought with me. I introduced them to the Ramona series my kids watched on PBS when they were younger. When the oldest was at school on Monday and my son was at work, we were able to give mom a morning off. The youngest and I spent the morning playing. It is a wonder to watch her. She played independently for the entire morning. All that was required from me was to 'neeeeeeigh' at the appropriate times when she needed her 'oonyhorn' to speak.

So it was an ordinary stretch of time filled with quiet joys, an it could not have been more perfect.

Tuesday saw me headed home. I started out just as soon as the oldest was on the bus. Mama needed to drop the youngest off at preschool. I needed to get my hiney home asap. I needed to be at the lawyer's office to sign important papers. So it was the 5 hour trip. The car was unloaded. We hopped back in and headed to Warren.  It just made for a loooong day.

While I was gone, Tim bought a car. Wednesday morning, we got up and headed out to pick that up. It is pretty, black metallic paint, so it sparkles. It is a hybrid, completely new technology to us. Tim drove it while I worked out the computer system. It has Sirius Satellite radio. Not sure how long that goody will last. It is quite the fanciest car we have ever owned. He is pleased with himself.

So that is the recap of life in my corner of the world.

Outside of my bubble, Orban lost the election in Hungary after a 16 year dictatorship. Jd Vance even went there to campaign for him. Why? Well...there's this:

New Hungarian PM says Orban government was using taxpayer money to fund US pro-Trump activist group CPAC | LBC https://www.lbc.co.uk/article/new-hungarian-pm-says-orban-government-was-using-taxpayer-money-to-fund-us-pro-t-5HjdXp8_2/

I am sure that this is a coincidence though.

Trump's messianic visions have taken front stage. He's blasting the pope at this point. Posting AI of him as Jesus. Him with Jesus. MAGA is talking about blasphemy. Such a shock, isn't it? They were completely okay with his blasphemy until he began to mock their God.

Let's just stop right there.

  1. Glad you had a great visit with the grands and you had a safe trip home. The news from Hungary was so encouraging.

  2. Welcome home. A trip like that to visit loved ones is good for the soul.
I have avoided all the news headlines whilst we were on holiday. It was surprisingly easy to do!

    1. I started my morning by reading what Twitter brain Mctweety fingers spewed out in his periods of sundowning. Once I assured myself that he hadn't destroyed any civilisations while I was sleeping, I simply avoided the news for the rest of the day.

  3. That sounds like a great trip. That smallest grand sounds very resourceful!

Glad you had such a lovely trip. Your grandkids are lucky.

    1. Their grandma is lucky too! I really enjoyed sitting on the floor and playing. I felt like I was entering into their world, and it is a much nicer world than the one I am stuck in!

  5. That sounds like the perfect visit, apart from the five-hour journey. It's lovely to see little children developing.

  6. Hey, whatever it takes -- I'm just happy to see MAGA finally realizing that Trump is losing his marbles.

Glad you had a great trip! A five-hour drive sounds kind of nice, actually. I love long car trips and don't get them much these days.

    1. I am glad to see MAGA crumbling too. The level of self delusion in that mindset is mind boggling. I read one post blaming the closure of small country hospitals on the ACA. Except that when trump cut Medicaid so drastically, that was one of the arguments made against those cuts. The big beautiful bill passed and just as was warned, small rural hospitals in poor areas began to close within months of this decision. It boggles my mind that the writer will attribute this to a decision made in 2010, rather than see it as a predicted outcome of a bill passed last summer. I don't even know what you call this level of willful self delusion.

  7. Kay of Musings: Tim bought a car while you were gone? That must have been a surprise for you.
The news while you were gone is appalling. I didn’t think Trump could go any lower, but he keeps going and going and going. I just don’t understand how he can still have supporters BUT he does.

    1. It was something we had been talking about for a few weeks. I had actually been lobbying for him to upgrade from a 'decent car' to something at the top of the used car spectrum. Whenever we have bought luxury cars, it has always paid off. The Lincoln still runs like a top, but at 20 years old, has become something that we don't want to take on long trips. We know where it needs to go next.

    1. Oh, we certainly will! Tim is quite pleased with it and is very anxious to see how many miles we will get on a tank of gas.

  11. Welcome back, Debby! It sounds like the perfect trip—there’s nothing quite like the creative logic of a grandchild who needs a professional 'neigher' for her oonyhorn. Congratulations on the new car, too! Sparkling black metallic sounds very fancy. Glad you made it back safe through that long travel day!

Pretty cool car, I must say!

    1. We will never own a new car. I know that your Glen would understand Tim's thought process. But after a lifetime of 'decent' cars, I was kind of pushing him to get something better than decent. We can afford it, and it just seems he has spent most of his time these past few months fixing one or another of them. I thought we should just buy something better than decent.

  13. Does the engine charge the battery, or does it get charged via regenerative braking? Inquiring minds are nosy. Your trip to the grand kids sounds wonderful.

  14. What a special time away! Your grandchildren sound like so much fun! Just what you needed! I wouldn't mind playing the part of a unicorn.
The new car is very spiffy!!! My son is trying to sell us on a hybrid. It is pretty tempting.

    1. It was so sweet. The new car is a used car. Low miles. It really looks nice.

    2. When I first heard the phrase regenerative braking decades ago, I thought I heard degenerative braking, which of course assoiates with degenerate. I don't think I ever spoke the word but I may have written it,

It sounds like such a good time with your grands. Precious time, precious memories
The car looks pretty nice. New cars are so complicated these days. Our van is a 2020 and we still haven't figured out all the bells and whistles, and I doubt we ever will.

    1. This is a 2015. I am quite surprised that the bells and whistles have been quite easy for a low tech girl like me to figure out.

  16. Kay of Musings: It’s me again, Debby. My friends just sent me this video of Tammy Duckworth’s speech and she really tells it like it is. She is originally from Hawaii and is now an Illinois senator. So I’m doubly proud of her. https://youtu.be/NRvJUvSSGbU

I'm glad you're here!

Today kinda sucked.

We went to the gym this morning and I did my 3 miles. I also did this: It is the biggest blister I have ever given myself. Tim said, "...
