(Samuel L. Jackson voiceover) "But the snow event did not end this morning...)
We have 18 inches of snow on the ground, The tractor is stuck. Tim and I got our aerobic workout, for sure. We shoveled our three hundred foot driveway. Tim dug out the mailbox.
Yesterday was a day of aggravation. Tim went to church. I was bustling around getting the house straight. We had Ray coming for lunch. Nothing fancy. It has been a busy stretch of days.
When I went to use the stove, the burner did not light. Stupid gas was out. It had gone out twice the previous day. Tim suspected a faulty regulator and had bought a new one, but hadn't gotten it installed. He had a funeral. So dinner was a little late but that was okay.
Today the gas was off when we woke up. Tim did his magic. And then we went out to shovel. When we came back in, the gas was off. He turned it back on. He ran to Titusville to return a tool he had a $450 deposit on. While he was gone the gas went out again. Ready or not, today was the day to install the new regulator. Which required more shoveling.
I'd rearrange furniture but I am too tired.

Blame the credenza! You really did have a snowmageddon. Makes our few inches look puny. But as usual, you over came.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that it hadn't occurred to me before now.
DeleteThanks for your comment about my blog. When stuff happens like the gas it's very aggravating.
ReplyDeleteYour absence was noticed, Red. You are a steady 'voice' in our corner of blogland.
DeleteOkay Mother Nature. I think Debby has had enough snow for a minute! I bet you are exhausted.
ReplyDeleteHow much did you get out your wsy?
DeleteEnough snow! and it's only December 15th.
ReplyDeleteI know! We have had 3 snow events already! That is enough winter for this girl.
DeleteThat is a huge amount of snow, but chin up, Debby! Spring is coming! (I'm sorry but I couldn't help it!)
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine this amount of snow falling in a city like Pittsburgh???? That would be disasterous.
DeleteYou are very, very right! You Northern PAers are toughies
DeleteGas not behaving is worrying.....these things only happen when the weather gets going!!
ReplyDeleteHope you get it safely sorted soon
You are right. It only happens when it is cold out. The hot water tank doesn't cool down right away. The house doesn't suddenly turn cold. The stove seems to be my first notice that we have a problem. But (knock wood) we have not had a problem since the new regulator was installed. Once again, my 'hold this right there like that' skills proved vitally important.
DeleteLuckily your heating is not gas fired. You don't have one of those snow blowing machines? 91 metres of snow is a lot to shovel.
ReplyDeleteOh Andrew. Our heating IS gas. It got pretty cold, but that was solvable. Tim brought his little hunting heater in.
DeleteI guess you don't need to go to a gym!
ReplyDeleteNot today, anyway!
DeleteThat is a heckuva snowfall. Being in the lee of the lake must have something to do with it. I hope you had a good sleep, and I hope that you enjoyed your gas. 😀
ReplyDeleteIt was more than enough for this girl. I will ship a foot of it to you.
DeletePS: Jumping Jack Flash, it's a gas, gas, gas!
DeleteToo much, of everything. Go to bed and pull the covers over your head!
ReplyDeleteIt was too much! And bed felt good.
DeleteI hope changing the regulator worked and the gas is pooting right along!
ReplyDeleteI am almost afraid to say it out loud, but it does seem to have done the trick.
DeleteA foot and half of snow! No wonder you're tired. I can't even imagine having that much snow.
ReplyDeleteHope the gas got sorted out and I'm so glad Red is okay.
Funny how glad I was to see his post. I really would like to hear from Joanne.
ReplyDeleteI freak the hell out when our gas goes out for ANY reason. And we live in Florida! I am such a wimp.
ReplyDeleteWe both started to freak out when it became a consistent problem.
DeleteHope the gas keeps working and the snow is done!
ReplyDeleteHang in there, Debby!
So far so good. (Fingers crossed!)
DeleteGreat to have Red back but what about Joanne Noragon??
ReplyDeleteI need to email that woman.
Delete“I'd rearrange furniture but I am too tired.” That’s a very gay thing to do
ReplyDeleteJust thought I needed to get my Feng shui together. Yesterday was not a great day. The gas has stayed on for 24 hours with no problems. I didn't rearrange furniture, but I did wash sheets.🤔
DeleteIn Florida, it has been cool for here but sunny and a beautiful day here today. I am going to Tifton, Ga. tomorrow for four days, my granddaughter is graduating college at ABAC there. I hope it is an inside graduation, I think it is. We are spending four days at my daughters hunting camp for a party and bond fire. We will probably need a nice warm fire, coming home Sunday. Glad the gas problem seems to be fixed. Be careful with the snow shoveling, hard on the heart.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you granddaughter. Sounds like a fine time with your family, and right before the holidays too. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteDo you have a snow blower? In Spokane, where we get wimpy snow, everybody has a blower. I guess we're not as tough as you are in PA. Very happy that the gas is on and staying on.
ReplyDeleteNo snow blower.
DeleteThat's a LOT of snow to shovel out!!
ReplyDeleteI hope your gas issue gets fixed soon. Possible gas leaks really scare me.
Our gas is from our own gas well. There is no leak. we are on the second day with no problems. It must have been the regulator, just as Tim suspected.
DeleteWell, THAT's annoying. I hope fixing that regulator works! I see above that you have a gas well -- I've never heard of such a thing. So there's no supplier? You just take the gas right out of the ground?
ReplyDeleteYes. And the excess is sold to a company. It is why Tim bought the property. The new regulator seems to have done the trick.
DeleteDid the new regulator work? We had trouble with ours going out and it turned out there was a leak up at the well. Once that was fixed, the problem was fixed. Another problem that done people have is moisture collecting in the line. We have a thing where you "blow off" the moisture. But Tim probably knows all about that.
