This morning, I headed down to Jim's place with the bucket of wildflowers that
William and I dug up across the creek to relocate on our side of the creek.
The red cardinal flower, I knew...but the blue cardinal flower, I didn't.
the cleome was a new discovery as well.
65 years of not paying attention, I'm afraid.
Jim and Paula were already happily chatting by the creek,
each with their favorite deck chair from their respective back decks.
We did a good thing.
We will rest on our laurels
(which is illegal to relocate).
Job well done..that looks a grand place to sit
ReplyDelete'done' being the key word...
DeleteSuch lovely flowers. I hope they enjoy their new home.
ReplyDeleteThey seem to, which is nice.
DeleteWhat a lovely area you have created. Your tenants are very fortunate.
ReplyDeleteThe area was there. We just made it easier for them to get there.
DeleteOh wow! Those are so pretty! I'll bet they're going to be so gorgeous when they start proliferating.
ReplyDeleteI think so too.
DeleteLovely view. Beautiful steps!
ReplyDeleteThey are good and sturdy. A real improvement from an elderly woman rapelling down. The call of the water is strong for both of these tenants. Now we have a third tenant who has set a chair there. She lives in a house a block down the street.
DeleteIt is a wonderful place to sit. There is a surprising amount of wildlife to photograph.
DeleteThe stairway looks terrific and sturdy! Well done!
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers!
It is very sturdy. The supports are cemented. Since the bottom of them can be in the water during bad weather, we needed to know they were not going to float away. We took extra care to make them slip proof as well.
DeleteHope they all establish well.
ReplyDeleteSo far, so good. I have another bucket today.
DeleteWe have a pink lobelia that looks a lot like those cardinal flowers. (Basically the same thing, I guess.)
ReplyDeleteI did not realize lobelia came in so many colors. I am learning a lot.
DeleteThanks for posting the picture. It certainly wasn't as big as what I was imagining. I am assuming that the flat area where the chairs are located is a flood plain for the river?
ReplyDeleteThe stairs are 22 feet long, from top to bottom. Yes, the flat area is actually usually underwater in the early spring, and the water eases back as the weather warms up. It's a nice place to sit when the water is low.
DeleteMy Mom had beds of spider plants. They have seed pods on them and came up every year in Ohio. People came to collect the seed pods when they turned brown and ripe to start in their yard.
