Since we are more or less homebound at the moment, we're looking for Netflix or Amazon Prime suggestions. My daughter suggested "The Best of Men" which I looked up. Exactly the sort of movie that we enjoy. Unfortunately, it is not available here on American Amazon Prime.
What are you watching?
Go!
Sprung on Prime. It's a series.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what's on American Prime vs. here in the UK. Most of what we watch is on Netflix, to be honest! You might consider getting a VPN which would allow you to access Amazon Prime in the UK. They're not very expensive.
ReplyDeleteI'm watching "Shrinking" on Apple+. If you like "Ted Lasso" it's by the same people. Funny, but poignant. Quite a bit of swearing though.
ReplyDeleteWith family in the UK, maybe consider subscribing to BritBox. There is much good stuff. Acorn is good too. You could start with the 12 seasons of Vera on BB. You’ll grow to really like her after a season or two.
ReplyDeleteBTW, you can subscribe directly through an app or through Prime for a monthly or yearly fee.
ReplyDeleteThere is a series on Prime called Endeavor. It's a prequel for the Inspector Morse series. It you like British mysteries, you might like this.
ReplyDeleteWe've watched a lot in the last week whilst Keith rested up. Some on Netflix and some on Prime, which we've underused. Keith's currently watching Jack Ryan (a series) on Prime. He favours action and spy/army type drama. We had a Jason Statham season of action movies which were a good distraction. Yesterday evening we watched The End of Us which I can recommend. I prefer period drama and would happily re-watch the Poldark series again. For escapism we loved The Witcher series - plus Henry Cavill is very easy on the eye!! I enjoyed "Dig" a few months ago (about Sutton Hoo, a Dark Age ship burial site), Detectorists which was on British tv and I'm not sure if you can get, is just such gentle viewing and again, we can happily watch again and again. Enola Holmes (and EH 2) are really good - she's Sherlock Holme's sister). They are on Netflix. Don't know what some of the others are on, and you may not be able to get them your side of the pond.
ReplyDeletewatching 1923
ReplyDelete"Wednesday"... know it's kind of YA but it was fun and my teacher/daughter and her family loved it too!! Think it was about 7 episodes.. or 8?
ReplyDeleteWell I watch a lot of those films in which nothing much happens so they tend to buried deep down on Netflix... but oddly I also like western's of which Netflix has a fab collection. Did you watch The Power of the Dog? famous I know, but if you've not seen it you perhaps should give it a try.
ReplyDeleteHaving neither of these I cannot recommend specifically, however should you ever find Bad Move or The Detectorists, they have my endorsement. Jeanie
ReplyDeleteNetflix: Locke and Keys, Enola Holmes, Hachi: A Dog's Tale, Age of Adaline, Rescued By Ruby, Red Notice
ReplyDeleteAmazon Prime: Alex Rider, Witcher, The Aeronaunts
If you think you would like ‘Agatha Christie in modern New York’, watch Only Murders in the Building.
ReplyDeleteWe’ve just binge watched Better call Saul.. and we’re also enjoying MI-5 (aka Spooks, a British show). Good luck, and I keep sending good vibes to you!🥰xo, Ricki
ReplyDeleteOutlander, on Netflix
ReplyDeleteI’ve read all the books, and the series, although slightly altered is very true to the spirit of the tale. 5 or 6 series.
Hope the health of you both is improving. x Ann x
We watched Road to Perdition. There were a lot of brutal murders in it (mafia), so not everyone would like it. At least there was a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteCurrently I just finished season two of Vikings: Vahala on Netflix and recently finished season three of Jack Ryan on Prime. I'm currently watching English on Prime which is a western of sorts.
ReplyDeleteWe've been watching on Netflix--Extraordinary Attorney Woo , a Korean series about an autistic attorney. Unusual, but it grows on you.
ReplyDeleteI swapped Netflix for Peacock & Paramount +. Peacock releases movies while they are still in theaters. They both have more current movies than Netflix. Amazon Prime I mostly watch series like Reacher, Bosch and The English which are all very good.
ReplyDeleteTom Clancy's Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime. There are three seasons, it's pretty good. And Allison already told you about Endeavour, it is really well done, but you really have to pay attention, the plots are complex, but there are subtitles which helps.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to read about Tim and hope things improve soon for him . As for tv programmes do you have access to BBC iplayer in the states? If so try Fortunes of War. This is my go to series for when I want to binge. Its got Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson and is really good. If you dont have iplayer what about Traitors its not a series its more of a reality show but I do know there is an American version of it but havent watched it. The British version was really good and had us all screaming at the TV at the end lol
