Tuesday

Tim's cough is back. Before he went to bed, I said, "Are you going to go to the walk-in clinic tomorrow?" Without argument, he said, "Yes."

Not sure that is a good sign or a bad sign.

I just know that it does him no good to go back to his own doctor. Treating the symptoms is not, in this case, solving the problem.

We are supposed to get a winter storm starting at 4 AM, and lasting through out the day. It will be interesting. It seems like the more hype a storm gets, the more likely that it is to fizzle out. William is waiting hopefully for a school cancellation.

  1. It used to be the same here--big hype=fizzle. Lately, the meteorologists have been much more accurate. Tough to figure out the convergence zones though with the Pacific next door and Canada up above. Fingers crossed that your storm won't be too bad. I hope that Tim gets some answers and a chest x-ray!

  2. I'm so glad that Tim is seeing a different doctor. I agree with Margaret, a chest x-ray at least. Hopefully the storm isn't too bad.

  3. Good luck on both counts ... Tim's clinic visit and the storm.

  4. I wish this wasn't about Tim's bad cough, otherwise I'd have a laugh here. As you know, I live right below you Deb and was supposed to wake up to a major snowstorm starting at 4am. Here it is, 5:20am and I've yet to see a single flake. Keeping my fingers crossed for Tim.

  5. I am a little reluctant to mention this, although I have thought about it before. In the early 1990s my father was quite ill. He was being treated by his local doctor but with little improvement. My step mother took him to him to her doctor and pleaded, 'He is dying before my eyes. Can you do something?'. That wasn't an exaggeration. He had cancer and Step Mother's doctor did do something and he went into our very good public health hospital system. His cancer was successfully treated and he lived for another eight years before the cancer returned and he died.

I don't mean to alarm you at all but as you say, the cause needs to be investigated, not the ongoing symptoms treated. It has been too long.

  6. Batten down the hatches and best wishes for Tim.

  7. I think Tim needs to press the doctor -- any doctor -- to order a chest x-ray, at the very least. He probably just has lingering bronchitis or something but he needs to make sure.

  8. We have a lovely, wet snow this morning and it is supposed to keep up for most of the day. It is pretty and I do not have to go anywhere. Stay safe and good luck to Tim!

  11. Poor William. He didn’t get his hoped for day off school. I hope that Tim finds resolution to his cough. He has had that cough a very long time. — Linda G.

  12. School is cancelled here due to the same storm which has now passed us by. Left about an inch of snow and drizzle. More hype for us. I hope with the walk in clinic, you are able to convey past tests/results/treatments so they don't waste a lot of time repeating all that you've done. But I think it probably wise to get a second opinion.

  13. Meanwhile, it's week after week of "possibly severe" storms down here. We did get a tornado touchdown in our county last week, and a bit over two inches of rain yesterday. You're right... the more they hype, the less likely it seems to come to pass, but you still have to stay alert.

I look forward to hearing what Tim learns today. I hope it's good news.

  14. Another one hoping that the walk in clinic will be more thorough in looking to the cause of Tim's cough and I also hope that they have the magic wands to cure. I used to be totally envious of schoolkids who had weather events that would cancel school. A cyclone had to be on top of us - or floods had to cut the access - before we got out of school! Jeanie

  15. William sounds like my kids in Chicago. They rarely, rarely cancelled schools though. I'm hearing Chicago will be hit by snow too.

  16. I hope Tim gets to the doctor OK with the snow coming. This cough is worrisome.
