Friday

I spent the day cleaning.

I'm reading 11-22-63. It's been a long time since I read anything by Stephen King, but I am engrossed with the book.

Tomorrow, I'll probably bake molasses cookies.

Tim's still fighting his chest cold.

I can touch my knee without pain. This is a huge improvement.

William decided not to hunt.

Houdini is still in the basement, although I have a hunch he's coming upstairs and exploring the house when we're in bed for the night.

That's it really.

Okay. Who's snoring out there?

Sounds like your knee is slowly improving.

    1. I have really just made a point of staying off of it this week as much as humanly possible. It's actually a little embarrassing how quickly it helped. I mean, I have really been struggling here.

  2. I knew the date of the book title straight away. CS Lewis died on this day that President Kennedy was assassinated.

    1. Wow. I never made that connection! Thanks, Dave.

  3. I've tried to remain silent on the matter but I am pleased to hear William will not hunt. There shouldn't be pleasure gained by killing animals. If culling is needed, leave it to professionals.
Good to know your knee is on the mend.
Houdini is perhaps wondering what the terrible snoring noise is coming from a bedroom.

    1. That would be Tim with his awful cold. I expect the cat is probably accustomed to it by now.

  4. I loved that Stephen King book! I wrote a book review for it on my own blog, back in November 2011. I'll be anxious to hear what you think when you're finished. 🙂

  5. The good news, William deciding against hunting. The best news, your knee finally improving. I felt that relief along with you.

    1. I cannot tell you what a relief that knee issue is. I will for the first time in probably 60 years (in mom years) have all of my kids, all of my grandkids under one roof for Christmas. I am awfully excited for that time, and I would hate to be limited in what we can do.

  6. I have a confession to make. Though I only read non-fiction, I make one exception and that is Stephen King. I guess because I was so engrossed with his novels as a child. I loved that book and absolutely hated the miniseries with James Franco. I normally always prefer the book but that movie was far off base at points.

As for William, there is always time to change. I grew up not a hunter, became one in my late 20's for a period of time and haven't touched a gun in nearly two decades. Perhaps I never was a hunter even when I hunted.

    1. I loved Stephen King right up until Pet Sematery. I read it right up to where he began to foreshadow the death of Gage. I said to myself, 'If he kills off a child, I'm done with him.' He did. I was.

Here's how out of the loop I am. I had not clue that there had been a movie made. I have never seen a Stephen King movie that was done well, IMHO. So much of his books are psychological, or happening in the mind of his characters, it just doesn't work on the big screen. That's just my opinion. I have never seen It, and I don't want to. (See first paragraph.)

    2. There are a couple good movies made from Stephen King's books. Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Misery and Christine all come to mind. The original version of It was okay but the remake a few years back was terrible. The latest remake of Firestarter was also terrible. Looking through the list, there are way more poor movies than good ones so it is probably best to wait for someone you trust to review it before just going to see them like I usually do.

  8. I am so glad to hear that your knee is healing, albeit slowly. And painfully.
It is a beautiful thing that William was given a choice whether or not to hunt and that his decision is the final word.
Stephen King delights AND disappoints me. I did read that book and I, too, was fascinated. Can't say that about all of what he writes.

    1. We really try to affirm his feelings. It doesn't always happen that way, and we see, often, that he's trying very hard to please people. We don't want him to think he needs to do that with us.

    1. Well, I'm glad you stopped snoring. It really is hard to swallow and snore at the same time!

  10. That might have been my snoring you could hear. I wake myself up sometimes:)

Glad your knee is feeling better.

Stephen King has an amazing mind. I think my favorite was "Dreamcatcher". How he described memory was exactly how I describe my own memory.

    1. I have to say that I think that it would be a terrifying thing to be married to that man. My god, you'd NEVER know what was going through that mind of his.

  12. Not me! I appreciate the update. I'm glad you're enjoying the Stephen King novel; I've been tempted to read that one too. (And I don't think I've read any Stephen King for about 30 years!)

  13. It is good to hear your knee is a little better, try to rest as much as possible. I had to get an injection in the arch of my foot this week, lots of pain but I know in another day or so the pain will be gone.

  15. ”it would be a terrifying thing to be married to that man“. — Can you imagine BEING him, and living with that mind all the time??? What my own mind conjures up at at 4am is plenty scary as it is…

  16. I gave up reading Stephen King about four decades ago, I just outgrew the horror genre.
