Just The Facts

I haven't seen much of the ferals under my care in the past weeks. Mangey showed up last night, and much to my dismay, once again, he is showing signs of his mange on the backs of both ears, on the top of his head. It is not nearly as awful as it was, but his coat is dull and rough.

I cried.

He looked at me in such a beseeching way. He got an entire can of cat food. It was a flat out bribe. I need him to come back because:

Fact: Mangey needs to be brought inside for the winter and given regular doses of medication to clear this up entirely.

Fact: Tim will be more than a little pissed about this fact.

I am already casting about for a large dog crate to keep him in while he's recuperating.

Stay tuned.

LATE UPDATE: Tim saw my facebook ad for large dog crate and seems resigned. I have a special supper for him.

LATER UPDATE: dog crate purchased. It is a big one.

  1. Debby, you should know the way my mind works by now, I thought the dog crate was for Tim, ouch. Definitely look after the little cat. But give Mangey a more respectable name please. I wouldn't like to be called Dandruff.

    1. Bahahahhahaaaaaaa!!!! That's great Thelma.

No. It's for the cat. We can't have a parasite ridden cat wandering freely around the house jumping on furniture. We'll get him fixed up first. He'll live a comfortable confined life for a couple months. Once he's fixed up, he'll get to choose his life.

  2. Mangey will think Christmas is here already. Any chance of a photo of him?

    1. I put up one sometime back. His mange was in remission then. I found it for you. https://lifesfunnylikethat.blogspot.com/2022/07/unsolved-mystery.html He's the first cat. He's really quite a handsome fellow when he's well.

  3. Once you have cured him of his mange, tell him not to go out with the rough crowd incase he catches it again!

    1. Hopefully he will listen. I told him that i needed him to come back last night. He paid no attention to those instructions.

  4. Good luck with Tim... and Mangey. Too bad cats were more like cattle who can be treated for such things by putting food under dispensers that apply it to their backs why they eat automatically.

  6. Too funny.
I have such a hard time with mad spouses, they stress me out, which is odd because I don't have a problem getting angry. My hubby is tired, grumpy and gets mad so easily right now and when he's mad, he pouts which just irritates me. Perhaps he needs he deworming:)

    1. He claims not to be angry at all. He'll get a special supper anyway.

  7. You need a couple of mice for Tim to see after the cat is better, Tim might think you need the cat instead of mice. Just a thought.

  10. Is there a shelter that will locate him in a good place permanently?

    1. Unfortunately our shelter euthanizes sick cats immediately. Let me be clear. Mangey will have a permanent home. He is starting put in the cage because the mites that are causing his mange can also affect humans. Once his mange is under control, he would be free to roam the house. Some ferals do not want to be in a house. He has a permanent home if he chooses.

  11. I wonder if he is sheltering underground at some time, mixing with any who have been...or picking up mites where others who have them have been?
Pirate's late terrier used to pick up mange when he went underground..not that Pirate wanted him to!!
