Ack.

Got up early to help someone move today.

Stairs. Lots of stairs.

Snow. Big fat fluffy flakes.

The good news. 4 of us got the move loaded in two hours. She is moving into an assisted living space nearer to her fmaily. The unload will be done by their family on their end. Other good news? It's stopped snowing (although it's still only 38 degrees ~3 degrees C~ out there). And... my son and his family are improving, and the baby's symptoms remain mild. Also: My bed is just a short walk down the hall, and that bed will feel extra comfortable tonight.

Good night everyone.

This is something that struck me today:

'We have two lives, and the second one begins when you realize you only have one.'

  1. Boo on the snow (we had flurries in Pittsburgh this morning) but that's a great quote. I want to remember that one.

    1. It sounds like such a 'current' poem. The poet died in 1945. The poem is called Maturity.

  2. Glad folks are improving, and that you didn't hurt anything helping with the move. I'd prefer to have 9 lives. Linda in Kansas

    1. Oh, Linda! By the time that I crawled in bed last night, I felt like I had hurt EVERYTHING. I do think most of it was from hauling things from an over heated building to the cold outdoors. My back stiffened up quite badly. Bed felt soooooo good.

    1. Isn't it? Googling it, I saw it was also the name of a book which was surprising. I looked it up. Mario Andrade died in 1945.

  5. Unless you are family or a REALLY close friend, I'm unfortunately unavailable on moving day.

    1. You will laugh yourself silly when I say that I'd never met this woman in my life! She was elderly and being moved into an assisted living facility closer to her only relatives, a niece who lives two hours away. All of her friends on this end were of a like age, and the family was desperate to get help to load that truck. The niece looked to be nearly 70 herself. A friend made us aware of the situation, and we pitched in. They were so touched we got a homemade apple pie out of it!

    2. Well, I do have a soft heart and may have pitched in for this particular situation. Homemade apple pie would have helped soothe some of the aches!

  6. Well that is certainly a paradoxical quote, isn't it?!

    1. Paradoxical, but as a person who is slowly coming to that realization, I find it to be true.

  7. That's an interesting quote. It also had me researching Mario de Andrade. I knew nothing about him.

    1. Either did I. The poem is called Maturity and reading it, I'm a bit astounded at how timely it is for a man who died 77 years ago.

    1. It really resonated with me. I am at the right age to give it some thought.

  9. Just to be 'that guy' 38F = +3C bc freezing point of 32F = 0C. I can't speak for younger Canadians, but older folk like I know both systems pretty well. We converted to metric when I was in my mid-thirties. I think maybe I am still a little more comfy in the imperial system. I can convert temperature pretty handily and distance but don't do mass as well. For whatever odd reason, most of us, even the younger ones, tend to measure body weight in pounds and height in feet and inches. We're a strange and confused lot, I tell ya.

    1. Well, that takes care of the Canadians. What about the UK and Oz? You may be a confused and strange lot but I would ascribe that to the simple fact that you live in such close proximity to us.

  10. Snow? Yuck. I would be so depressed if we got snow already. Hope the family continues to get better. Love that quote.

    1. Nobody has ever written about , but the first snow requires a time to process. The 7 stages of grief? It pretty much mirrors that. In the end you accept.

  11. Oh no... You have that spam above too.
    Snow already?
You are such an angel to help your friend. You are also a very energetic angel. I can't do half the things you do.

  12. I am pretty good about staying on top of the spam. I paid for that good deed though.
