Funny things about the end of a renovation...things pop up. No, we're not done, but we are close enough to being done that I don't have a job for tomorrow. The carpets are installed and the closet flooring is down as well.
Never fear! I have come up with a job on my own: I'll start working on leveling out that side walk. It is an outside job, but I'm leaving the remainder of inside work to Tim for right now. He has two things on his list, but I've noticed that he keeps coming up with other small jobs...and they all seem to have him running to Lowes.
At the end of the day, though, we'll be able to have supper with my sister and her husband, to mark my birthday. I'm looking forward to just sitting and visiting, talking about something besides renovations.
I guess the fact that you have a tenant ready to move in means you have to finish at some time. Otherwise I could see the end stretching off into the future. Until the next reno!
ReplyDeleteThat's what is aggravating me right now. Tim's all tangled up with the shelves that he wants to put in the basement, and how he's going to build them.
DeleteThe basement is kept locked because we don't want tenants in it. The stone steps could be dangerous, and the ceiling is very low. This makes his fixation with that (in my mind) unnecessary right this damn minute. I just want to be finished.
So I will work outside and let him putz inside. Probably safer that way, because I'm just the tiniest bit irritated with him right this minute.
As you may be able to tell, I'm running out of patience.
DeleteYour frustration is evident!! Hope your birthday was great.
DeleteWell, happy birthday. I hope you have a great day.
ReplyDeleteOh, it was a few weeks back. Being retired and all, we just didn't have time to make a day of it.
DeleteIt's always good to have a snagging list. What's your next project?
ReplyDeleteNot going to have a next project for a while. This fall, after the garden is in, we'll start resume work on a sweet craftsman bungalow we bought a couple years back.
DeleteLock that basement door and don't let Tim in!
ReplyDeleteHuh. And here I was thinking to lock the basement door and not let Tim OUT.
DeleteSounds like delay tactics on his part….he just loves that place starting with L (and while I’m here I might just as well get this that and the other)
ReplyDeleteIt's more as if he goes there, gets one thing, comes home, and decides he needs something else. Lists...lists...the man needs to make a list. The problem with THAT is that he'd never be able to find his pencil. Most of my job in the beginning was keeping track of where he set things down.
DeleteThe last few things always take longer....and he does enjoy that store
ReplyDelete!!
Yes he does.

ReplyDeleteMy daughter's partner is just the same with B&Q here in the UK, once inside he seems to disappear for a while. Maybe there's a portal only he knows about, taking him to goodness knows where, lol.
ReplyDeleteI keep asking Tim if there is a woman there that he's sweet on.
DeleteThe two longest periods in a project are A waiting for the stars to align to begin it and B, finishing up all the millions of details.
ReplyDeleteYou can say that again (but please, don't...)
DeleteLet Tim play. You are doing right. There will soon come the time when you don't need to go near the place. Birthday supper for your 55th sounds great.
ReplyDeleteMy 55th...bahahhahahahaaaaaa...yep. That's what I'm going to celebrate. Thanks for the suggestion.
DeleteYou need a break! Sounds like too much time together! Do something fun just for yourself and forget the rehab! It will be finished soon...
ReplyDeleteIt is too much togetherness, I think. I am headed east for a week, leaving Monday morning.
DeleteEnjoy the celebration of your spinning around the sun! And next Monday - how wonderful, having both grandchildren together to get to be best mates!
ReplyDeleteGlad you can see the renovation finish line and happy birthday.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the end is so close, at least.
