Leaving on A Jet Plane.

After a frustrating afternoon, I've bought my ticket. I am headed to the UK next month to see my daughter and her husband. I have not seen her in three years.

We intended to fly to Georgia to see them for Cara's milestone birthday two years ago. She talked us into waiting a couple months until the weather improved. Biggest mistake ever. In less than a month, Covid had shut everything down all across Europe. It stayed that way so long that I missed her wedding.

So. I've been a bit sappy about how much I want this. I'm going by myself, because Tim is not quite retired and I'm afraid to wait. These are uncertain days. I don't want to miss another opportunity.

  1. What a jolly adventure to look forward to! Read up on all the rules for the day! One rule would be not to party with Boris. Linda in Kansas

  3. You will have a wonderful time and the sights are just amazing in older countries. We were in Germany and surrounding states three times a month each time. It is good when you have a personnal tour person as we did with our kids. There is so much to see and history to take in. I am so happy for you and the ticket is in hand.

  12. I had some friends fresh back from France a few weeks back. They made it there and back without issues though had some extra steps on each end of the trip. They had a bit more pressure to test negative as they both had jobs waiting for them. Hopefully being retired, there is no pressure for you in case your stay gets extended due to a positive test.

  13. I know what you mean, we were supposed to visit our son in Australia last year but of course everywhere was shut so we couldn't go. We're going this year and when I booked the tickets it was with the same mind as you in that, we're going now while we can!! Have a lovely time.

  14. Drum Major: I'll put it right at the top of the list...no partying with Boris!

Covid seems to be easing back here as well, Weaver (knock wood!)

I'm excited. I wish that Tim was going, but he just kept coming up with reasons to delay the trip. I didn't want to.

  17. Would you believe we’re going to be on a Vikings Cruise in May? I’m really, really nervous about this. This trip was paid for 2 years ago and postponed two times. This year… I guess we’re going. This was planned with two other couples a long time ago and we can’t back out now. Soooo…. We’re bringing a bunch of N95s and sanitizers and will hope for the best. I’m hoping for another booster. Fingers crossed for both of us.
