Blah.

An interesting note: Yesterday, I had a visitor on my blog from Eden Prairie, MN. That is the headquarters of the company I left two weeks ago for the joys of retirement. I watched, just out of curiosity and they stayed on the blog for quite a time.

I wondered if they were reading about my reasons for leaving. I wondered if maybe they were giving a thought to the perspective of a weary employee.  I heard that they are hiring on people, which would ease things. While they still have overtime, it is now voluntary, at least so far.

It would be nice to think that my thoughts could effect a change.

I woke up this morning with a cold, one of those miserable things that make you sneeze and sneeze. I've got cold chills. It is another cold day and the fire keeps the livingroom cozy warm. Every time I go out the door to bring in firewood, the cold makes my face throb.

There is a pot of pumpkin soup in the crock pot. Sipping a nice hot soup in front of a snapping fire finishing up Red's suggestion "An Arctic Man" sounds perfect to me. Certainly nothing to sneeze at.

  5. I am sorry to hear you have a cold, get well soon but I know a cold usually just has to run its course. It is good you can stay home sip coffee or soup and I guess blow your nose. It is hard to get help, a lot of people don't want to work. The Amazon here in our small town hire every day. All overtime is double pay now. Some people can make 35 to 45 dollars an hour overtime. My friend is using the overtime to pay her car off, she told me it was surprising how much she is able to pay on her car and still save. I know we are all looking forward to your trip and traveling with you through FB. Get well, take care of yourself.

  6. Kay, you can't really TIME people. I just happened to be on the blog when I noticed Eden Prairie pop up on my tracker, which I thought was interesting (anyone reading along from Eden Prairie?) I connected it with the company, and so I just sort of hung around awhile to see how long they stayed. If I hadn't noticed, I don't know that there is a way to actually do that.

  8. Yes Red. It is funny to think that I was whining about the cold and reading about a man who dealt with more cold than I've ever encountered in my life!

Cold is better today. At least the itchy nose and sneezing has stopped! It was shortlived.

  10. It would be nice if your previous Employer cared about your input and effects change for the better. When I had to take an early Retirement from the D.A.'s Office they typically did an Exit Interview, but didn't bother giving me one, which probably was a good thing since they may not have liked what I had to say about what could/should be improved upon in order to keep Employees and not have such high turnover in critical positions? *smiles* The Big Boss did meet up with myself and another Friend who Retired a few times for Lunch, things fell apart after we left and our Boss got demoted, not Surprising, Brilliant Woman who just couldn't work with people and so her Employees did not want to work for her and she ran a lot of them off. I left for personal reasons to become a full time Caregiver of an ailing Spouse, so perhaps they felt I had no complaints? Your Soup and chillin' by a Fire sounds sublime, Retirement is rather cozy at times, isn't it?
