Tired

Yesterday, I heard that a coworker had been transferred to a big city hospital. She is on a respirator and in a medically induced coma.

On the heels of that, I had to listen to the Covid Air Quote man. He was just back from a two week break due to his positive covid test. I put in my ear bud and listened a DateLine murder mystery. It was preferable to hearing his complaints about any person could have covid and not know it, so it was stupid that he had to stay home.

I don't understand the logic. The self centered thinking. The only thing that mattered was that he lost two weeks of pay. It never once crossed his mind to think, "God, I hope I didn't give Covid to M."

This morning, I heard that her kidneys have failed and that it looks pretty bad for her. It made me teary to think of it. We sat, socially distanced, but beside each other at lunch. We talk.  She's a very kind person.

Did she catch covid at work? Who knows?

But what I do know is that I'm very tired of hearing that it's a violation of privacy that we be told officially about the covid cases instead of rumors. When I was in the Army, I did some work with epidemiology and did contact tracing for STDs. When someone was called to be told they had been exposed to gonorrhea, they figured out in pretty short order who had clap.

Public health and safety take priority over privacy. It has always been that way.

  1. I am so sorry to hear about your co-worker. Political correctness has gone too far and it feeds the stupid in people.

  2. Your last sentence is the key to a good society. I'm sorry to hear about your friend who is very ill.

  3. That poor lady. Public health, people helping each other, kindness, consideration, thinking about others, all of this seems to have gone out the window, or maybe it did a long time ago and I didn't notice until now. Have people always just been assholes?

  4. I am so sorry to hear about your co-worker who is so ill. What a rough time for her and her family.
I am glad you have put in your earbuds so you don't have to listen to the self-centered ass at work. What a jerk he is.

  5. The last sentence is correct.

Just stay safe..not long now for working there. Wish you didn't have to work with covid deniers

  6. Oh, GZ...I live in a red part of the country. The majority of people here are covid deniers. Even medical professionals.

  7. So sorry about your nice co-worker. It's all very sad and covid is an evil disease, not yet fully figured out. Please wear a mask at work. It's the easiest way to make faces at people who are refusing science....until they need the hospital to fix it all. Linda in Kansas

  8. I have a coworker who tested positive and was quite sick for awhile. She's better now, but admits she should have gotten the vaccine. I asked why she didn't and she said because 'everybody' told her it was a hoax.

"Any of those people doctors or scientists?"
    "No."
"So, you trusted 'everybody' but not medical professionals?"

  9. If there was some sort of cosmic force that could track and then etch a line on the forehead of everyone who's selfish actions caused somebody else to lose their life, I think the world would be a much better place.

  10. Sorry about your co-worker. Your job will be done soon I hope you can get much needed rest and enjoy your family and the holidays. It is a shame that (smart) people need to be told how to handle their health but many have come to that, common sense seems to be on leave right now.

  11. I'm sorry to hear about your co-worker. This pandemic is such a strange experience, the different ways people have processed and politicized its demands. I don't understand the self-centeredness either.

  12. Speaking of military, my husband said you never got a choice when it came to vaccines. They just lined you up and gave you jabs.

  13. Correct, Kelly. Multiple vaccinations at the same time.

  14. So sorry to hear about your sick co worker, I don't know either why so many people feel this is somehow a political situation or a removal of their personal privacy. People do seem to have become less caring and polite these days and it's very very sad. Take care and remember to bring those earbuds to work!! x

  15. I had to get the MMR in my 40s for work because my mother couldn't prove that I had had measles, mumps and rubella. So I don't understand this covid denying insanity. It makes me want to rip out my hair! So sorry about your co-worker but I am becoming (or already) sympathy deficient for the unvaccinated.

  16. I am very sorry to hear about your coworker, Debby. I hope somehow she can pull through. Stay safe, take care and I couldn't agree more about public health/safety vs privacy.

  17. Well, you already know how I feel about all this. Sometimes, when you hear about these people who refused to get the vaccine, end up hospitalized and then beg for the vaccine as they're being put on a ventilator, you can't help but just shake your head.
