Biker Chick

Tim and I have gotten into a bit of a habit. We generally eat out on Fridays after I get out of work. Tim likes a small little restaurant about 20 minutes from the retirement property. It is also a pretty busy place so it is fun to people watch.

Tonight we saw something we have never seen before. A Mennonite woman with a sweet face came walking in. Her headcovering and long dress gave her away.

Mennonites are different than the Amish. They have electric and indoor plumbing. They have cars. Most sects require the cars be black.

This couple carried their motorcycle helmets.

I wonder how she managed her skirts? And yes, the motorcycle was black.

  1. Having seen a Moslem woman tuck her phone into her head covering, so her hands remained free, your motorcyclist would have ways and means.

  2. I have known Mennonites who didn't seem to have any restrictions at all.

  3. Where I grew up has almost been overrun with Mennonites. Mostly what we call the Black Bumper Mennonites but there are also New Order Mennonites who eschew the bonnets and dress codes and are indistinguishable from non-Mennonites other than they are pacifists. I've seen them drive motorcycles but never a black bumper one with bonnets.

  4. Hey, I wish you had a photo of the biker chick.

  5. Well, at least she was wearing a helmet!

  6. I used to live in an area that had a large Plymouth brethren sect - they would not use phones, had head coverings for girls and would not eat with anyone who wasn’t a member of their church.

  7. No Amish down my way, but we do have Mennonites.

  8. I used to work in a museum shop in Cardiff and we regularly had groups of home educators in, one were Mennonite..I asked her how she got her hair plaited so well...she said I cheat, my sister does it!

  9. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC ( in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.

I'm glad you're here!

It was a day of getting ready to go, getting everything packed up. We are headed east to see Iris' ballet recital.  I picked up some la...
