Touch of Gray

And the snow, snow, snow came down, down, down... It is just so gray outside. Ugh!

Speaking of gray, I have broken down and bought a special shampoo for those of the gray headed persuasion. I haven't dyed my hair for a year now and discovered that I am completely gray.

Which was bit of a shock.

And while I'm grappling with my own reality, my niece turned 21 today. She has dyed her long red hair gray.

Which was a bit of a shock.

I feel a distinct need to curl up by the fire and ponder life a bit.

Late Edit: I made myself feel much better by ordering my shiitake and oyster mushroom plugs. When you're caught up in an exciting experiment, you don't care what color your hair is.

  1. I've been dyeing my hair and wish I hadn't gotten started on it. I'm sure I would also be completely gray. My eyebrows have gone back to feral and I kind of like them big and bold. I don't think I'll wax them anymore, when I feel comfortable going to the salon. Good luck on your mushroom endeavor!

  2. A coach load of seniors off for a naughty weekend I expect. Your weather has certainly been challenging, to say the least. I've been watching videos of electric transformers blow up.

  3. Thanks for the laughs Debby. Any cure for a receding forehead? I suppose I could shave off all my hair? Hey that would solve the grey/gray too.😀

  4. No gray hair here but I keep it short and it is naturally blond so any would be hard to spot. However the old beard has a lot of white now around the muzzle, just like an old dog. I just hope my wife doesn't take me around back and put me down.

  5. After more than a year with no trim or colour, Sue actually wishes she were more gray -- a nice platinum sort of gray anyway. It's a bit hit and miss right now.

  6. My mom dyed her hair for years but she has recently gone entirely gray and I think it looks much better, honestly. Sometimes gray is the way to go! My hair is pretty much all gray, but then I shave my head so I never really see it. :)

  7. As you know, my sister rocks grey.

Me - not so much as (a) I don't want to experiment with how she achieved the transition, (b) after ignoring my regrowth too long at one point last year, discovered that the salt predominance in the salt'n'pepper outcome with my complexion = suddenly aging 20+ years. Oh, and (c) the back is still all pepper. There is no modern term for that sort of two tone.

  8. I did have to switch to a different mascara. (Oh the trials...)

  9. There's a lot of pressure on women to dye their hair when it starts to go grey. Most men are unconcerned about greying and never bother with hair dye. The difference is most interesting.

  10. I am so pleased to see so many friends (and children of mine) going grey.

  11. As a redhead who loved my golden locks and regret they darkened, then turned gray in my old age, I am appalled anyone would deliberately dye them gray. Pass the word — enjoy the red while one can from one who knows with first hand experience!

I'm glad you're here!

I am sure that everyone has seen the video of the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. I lived in Baltimore for a couple years while my...
