A Hint

This morning, once again it was snowing. It was another steely gray day. I found it hard to get motivated. But when I went to put mail out, I noticed that it had begun to rain. I went back in and pulled on my boots and a jacket and went out to start shoveling. Rain falling on the snow could turn to icy slush and our driveway has just enough slope that it can make it difficult to get all the way to the garage when things ice up.

I shoveled the walk, and then started the driveway, and the rain fell, and all around me was the sound of water running off the eaves and dripping trees. There was a breeze, and it wasn't cold. It felt almost like ~ dare I say it? ~ spring!

  1. Spring was in the air here in Shropshire as well. I paid attention to it and went out did some gardening!

  2. I saw some videos the other day of bad ice conditions in your country. In one a couple drove up a steep driveway, got out of the car and it slipped back down the driveway onto the road. Such conditions are not imaginable to me.

  3. We have had so much rain here that the ground everywhere is totally sodden and the garden is a sea of mud. Our lawn is now a lake. The gale force winds are uprooting trees whose roots have been loosened in the muddy soil. I shall need webbed feet at this rate.

  5. For the first time in 19 days, I saw our driveway yesterday. For the first time in 19 days, our garage floor is more than 50% dry and we no longer have to tramp through a puddle when exiting the vehicle. Today is supposed to be 45 degrees and windy so I expect that on day 20, I will have dry pavement in our driveway when the last of the slush that was there yesterday disappears.

  6. Yes! We are getting similar weather. This month has been pretty cold, so it is a welcome break.

  7. And I have spotted the first signs of springtime too - here in The People's Republic of Yorkshire.

  8. Northsider, quick, run over to your neighbor's place and tell her that Debby said hi!

Looks like spring is happening everywhere! Although it did snow today, it is blustery and the snow is wet and slushy and it still feels like spring.

  9. All the snow I kept moving now cannot turn to ice. There is a beautiful, narrow path of concrete up to my deck. Lovely. Yes, it feels like 45 degrees of spring.
