Dylan

My son has tested positive for covid.

He's taken a job working from home. My daughter-in-law is a nurse and has the vaccine. They are careful because of Iris. Even though they live in a very densely populated city, one of those areas where the numbers are high, I guess it just stopped being one of those things that I worried about.

So I was a little shocked when I got the text.

I texted back, asking if he had any respiratory symptoms.

He has a cough starting and his chest hurts when he coughs.

Eep.

'He's married to a nurse,' I tell myself. 'She's worked with enough covid cases that she knows what to look for.' It's true.

She's borrowing a pulse oximeter from another nurse. Covid had gone through her family before Christmas, and she had developed pneumonia, so she bought one to stay on top of her own situation. She managed her pneumonia at home.

So Dylan's a  young fella.

He's healthy.

He's married to a nurse.

He'll be fine.

I'll be happy when these days are over.

  1. The odds are very much in his favour. I can't imagine what it is like to live in such a situation.

  2. I hope he gets through the worst very very soon with no after effects. Very worrying

  5. Best wishes to your son. Get him to walk around as much as he can no matter how exhausted he feels and to lie on his stomach as much as he can when in bed. Your daughter in law probably knows this but just in case.

  6. So scary. I got a bug this week, apparently, and can't figure out from where since I have been hyper isolating.

  9. Sorry to hear that Debby and I hope that Dylan will make a full recovery as the vast majority of those infected with the virus have done.

  12. Yikes! Scary, but I'm sure he'll be fine. Plus, as you said, he's married to someone who knows what to watch for and when to take action. I too will be SO glad when these days are over.

  14. Hoping he has a mild case. My daughter-in-law, early 30s, tested positive last week and has run a fever for about a week but is beginning to show improvement. And so far neither our son nor their little ones have any symptoms. It’s hard because we can’t go help them. Won’t we all be glad when we’re past this?
