Guess what I'm Getting For Christmas?

I can hardly believe my good fortune! I got tickets to see They Shall Not Grow Old. It has a very limited screening in the United States, just two days, the 17th and the 27th, in select theaters only. It is playing an hour and 20 minutes from here, but for only one day, the 17th. A Monday. I have to work that day, so I cannot make the 4PM showing, leaving me only the 7PM showing. I'll be exhausted when I get up at 3AM on Tuesday for work, but it will be totally worth it.

This is the first I've heard of it and it looks wonderful! Congratulations - I feel sure it will be worth it.

Cara saw it in UK on the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI. It was a big deal and she and Colin were quite impressed by it. (Peter Jackson directed The Lord of the Rings). I looked for it here but it was not at the time available. You can find out if it is playing near you by entering your zip code here. https://www.fathomevents.com/events/they-shall-not-grow-old?layout_id=796&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3f3m0Y-b3wIVzOR3Ch15nQP_EAAYASAAEgJAk_D_BwE

It is the first I have heard of it as well but now it is on my Christmas list. Last year I was given the gift of scanning my great grandfather's World War I photo album of pictures he took, nearly 400 of them. It is one of my most treasured possessions. In fact, around 1:35 in that clip, there is a scene of soldiers holding a dog and I have several pictures of that same dog. The soldier on the left looks eerily like my great grandfather but the quality isn't there to say for certain. Thank you for sharing that clip. You've made my morning.

Ed, I want to make sure that you understand that this is only released in the US for two days (rights bought by Warner Bros). It will show on the 17th and the 27th of December only. If you go to the link in my second comment, you can type in your zip code and see if it is playing near you. I'm sure that once the initial hubbub dies down, it will be available on DVDs and the like, but it has not happened yet.

You are a lucky duck to have your grandfather's photo album.

PS That would be darn cool if you saw your grandfather on the big screen.
