Susan's Video

We went to meet Susan and Randy, and they are truly great people. While we were walking on the beach looking for beach glass and petoskey stones, I heard a huge splash, turned around, and was astonished to see that a plane had crashed between 100-150 yards away. "My God. That plane has gone down in the water!" I said. We stood gaping. Well then Susan got video. WTOL television picked it up, and ran it as part of their news cast. Hers is the video on the right.

More later. Great time. Great people.

Hmm. A 67 year-old guy, a 61 year-old guy, and two 21 year-old girls?? Glad everyone's okay, but...what was going on there?

Wow! I guess you left your quiet corner of the world and went smack dab into the action... Hope the rest of the weekend is well, maybe as eventful, but more along the fun rather than emergency side of things.

Bob Barbanes: It was actually a very heartwarming story. It was a father and his twin daughters. The father had honeymooned on Put In Bay like 30 years ago. His wife had died, and he and his twin daughters had driven in and hired a plane and pilot to take them out over the bay to scatter the mother's ashes.

Doesn't it bring a tear to your eye?

Okay. I totally made that up, but I felt like I had to stop the pictures in your head.

Well, you packed a lot into this short post. Plane crash? Petoskey stones? Beach glass I know, but I had to google the petoskey and have learned something new for sure! Pretty cool stone.
